Xeon had been, directly and indirectly, following Rio for a few weeks now. He had seen and heard many good things. But now, now it was time for the final test. He made his way out of the pine forest and sat at the edge of the barren lands, Rio took this rout from time to time and it was time they meet face to face.
He played with his sword, twirling it on its point in the ground. It was funny, how he didn't really know how to use the magnificent blade, it had cost him quite a large sum of coin and it was of high quality. Almost a waste really, him having it.
The sun high in the sky and by the looks of it shade was out of the question. She had better come soon Xeon hated to sweat.
Rio whistled as she walked down the usual path. She was beginning to get bored. When would that stupid test happen? She had wondered, day after day. She was beginning to think Devan made the whole thing up.
Xeon heard whistling, good he had begun to get hot and impatient. He waited till the girl came into earshot, where he didn't have to yell. "Have you noticed?" he asked.
Rio raised an eyebrow at the voice, she was sure where it was coming from, so she just continued to look on ahead. "Noticed you watching me? Yeah, what idiot wouldn't?"
Xeon put his sword away and looked at Rio, "How many? Times and different people." he chuckled. This was impossible to answer correctly sense the uniform would make it seem like three or four when it had been more like seven.
He snickered, unsure if she was serious or not, "Well that's fine, just that you knew that we were watching is enough. Did you notice me specifically any time before now? I understand you may think these questions are a waste, but for our training of the spies the information you give us is helpful."
"Hmm.. when? That's a good question." Rio thought it over. "Now that you mention it, it was during some pretty boring times. I remember feeling a presence once while I was training, other than that I couldn't care to pay much attention."
He nodded, 'the feeling', it was the hardest thing for a spy or an assassin to hide. "I guess I will just get to it then, so far you have passed. And there is no out now, this final test is for your life." he paused. "But I'm sure you'll do fine."
"I am affair, my dear, that I must hold back. Otherwise you may not have any chance to pass. The test is hard not impossible, now." he chuckled straightening back up.
Xeon walked toward Rio, getting a little faster the more he walked.
Rio waited for a chance to attacked. She snuck her hands behind her back, so that Xeon would not notice. She quickly created a small explosion in front of his path to distract him as she jumped high up, grabbing onto a tree branch and swinging on it. She laughed a bit, as she wasn't being very serious.
Xeon stopped infront of the explosion and put his hand in the blast. It absorbed into his hand and he turned watching Rio go hang from a branch. He threw the explosion out of his hand and it hit the trunk of the tree that she was swing on. It splintered and began to fall.
Rio managed to do a flip in the air and land safety. She couldn't help but think how lucky of a fall that was, because she'd never done a flip like that before.
She threw her hands together, chanted slowly and then pointed at Xeon, sending flashes of explosions towards him.
Xeon slapped most of them away and they blew up the ground, trees and anything else they hit, it was a skill he would teach her. The chanting would also be needed only for large explosions, once she got good enough. The last flash the she sent he absorbed and used to make a blinding light infront of Rio's face. He quickly bent down and touched the ground with his finger. A crack began its way towards Rio, Xeon controlled it with his finger.
