Phillis nodded. " I suppose it wouldn't be a complete waste of time then." he said, he talked as if he were the busiest man on earth. " By the way, have I received any mail?"

"Hmm.. Nothing in particular, I suppose." Phillis explained. He grabbed a small box from his night table. It was very well carved, yet old looking. A beautiful design was engraved on the top. He opened the top up, it had a cracked up mirror and inside it was full of letter. " Although, oddly enough, these are all sent from my brother from the past few weeks alone. I'm not sure why he's writing me so often, but his hand writing is just awful. Really, it hasn't changed at all since he was a child. He seems to be indecisive about the treaty. He'll say it's a good idea, and then that it's bad. And then good. And then bad. Honestly, it's getting on my nerves and.." Phillis coughed, he wasn't one for rambling on. "Well, you get the point."

"The idea of Avaleur and Paineston getting along." Phillis sighed, he threw the letters up in frustration. "Really, of course I'd get stuck with the idiot brother."

"Many of the people have lived through it, my king...it is not something to just quickly get over...." Namari frowned. "You have not lived that long. Heck, I have not either. So to think that you can say everyone should get over being betrayed while they are still recovering from the first blow, its really quite sad."

"Excuse you," Phillis began, the fact that Namari argued with him irritated him. " I know what I'm talking about. Avaleur has much bigger threats in the present than it does over something that happened fifteen years ago."

"If Paineston decided they wanted us gone, which I'm not saying your brother would ever want that of course, we're dead. End of story. The people have the right to be afraid. I am not trying to argue, Phillis, I am trying to make a point." Namari nodded firmly.

"Thats what they thought 15 years ago with that treaty." Namari pursed her lips. "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. That is what some might be thinking if they hear of this new treaty idea."

"It's different this time. We're different rulers. It's not my father against a stranger. It's two brothers." Phillis spoke, his point was weak but truthful nonetheless. "It's not just some silly game anymore, we're really serious. Avaleur could benefit in many ways."

"Your father was againsed a city with no ruler. A city that held no threat, what-so-ever. How do the people know the bond between the kings? If they know you two as brothers, why would you be here? Maybe you could have been kicked out. Maybe they think that your brother is using you."

"SHUT UP!" Phillis bellowed, his voice slightly cracking due to his illness. "How dare you even speak to me like that? I really ought to hit you. How dare you even speak of my family in a foul manner! You are in no place to speak to your king like that!"

"You act as a spoiled child who thinks of personal values before common sense!" Namari barked back, dropping her hand from her hip. "What if Painestons leader was someone else you knew nothing about? Would you agree to a treaty? I would think not! That is how these people feel, Phillis. He is just the leader of a kingdom that has betrayed Avaleur twice. Both times they were completely different rulers, pulled apart by 75 years. 15 years later isnt much of a difference. For gods sake, the people may think that your father wants your brother to carry on with his plans!"
"Think of it logically, Phillis, do not let your personal beliefs get in the way of your desitions for Avaleur." Namari sighed.

Phillis stayed silent for a moment, unsure of what to say. His throat had begun to hurt from yelling. He threw his blankets off, beginning to get out of his bed. "No, it's worth it.. It'll be worth it. Even if everyone hates me, even if they think I'm the worst person in the world.. It's worth it." he mumbled, barely audible. He put his robe on, opening his doors.
