Phillis' return to Avaleur was not quite as grand as he expected. He heard all about the destruction and death that had happened due to the war. It had come as a shock to him, but he managed to keep calm.
He had returned with Walter and Grayson. Phillis turned to face the two. "You two can stay here for now, it's pretty unpredictable outside right now." "Is Avaleur always this messy?" Grayson whispered, in question to Walter.

"My son this is the first war Avaleur has had in 15 years, and that war was not even close to this..." Walter mumbled. He turned to Phillis. "We have to get you, your sister and Grayson out of Avaleur my king, it is too dangerous."

Phillis raised an eyebrow as if he was offended. "I can't leave now. Although I do agree that it's far too dangerous for Cecilia and Grayson. I'll arrange for someone to bring them back to Paineston."

"I don't care!" Phillis yelled back. "Isn't it bad enough that I wasn't here when this war happened? Do you know how many people died?! I can't risk that again! It's far more honorable to die in war then in hiding! I'm a terrible king and I need to start doing something!" he was clearly stuck on the idea. "So please, do not argue with me on this!"
Grayson watched the scene, confused. So Phillis was the king..? Why had nobody told him?

"Phillis I will force you back to Paineston if I have to!" Walter barked back. Clearly he was even more willing to disobey the king than Namari was. "I am sure most of the knights will agree with me when I say you should go. If you die then Avaleur will die!"

"Shut up, Walter!" Phillis yelled, he was already stressed enough as it was. " You have no clue what it's like to sit aside and be useless! I don't care what any of you say, I am staying and that is final!"

"NO!" Phillis was getting heavily annoyed by Walter. " I'm sick of you all telling me what to do. I've made up my mind and I'M STAYING! That is final. Good day." Phillis was finished, he began to walk off.

Walter was shaking. You don't have much of a choice, Walter. Let it out.
"Phillis. Please. For Cece. For Grayson. I can't leave them in Paineston without you." Walter had dropped to his knees. Tears formed in his eyes. Hands together, he was begging Phillis.

"That's not true. You know well enough that this town blames me for every damn problem they have. " Phillis was still not sure about things. Although, seeing someone crying always got to him.

"Because they have no one else to blame in their eyes." Walter frowned. He wiped some of the tears away. "Remember when the knights started up? That's the first thing that they thought of. That the knights were the problem."

"I know.." Phillis muttered. Even he had hated the knights at first. He was reminded of the town hall meeting and the fight he had caused. "That doesn't exactly change things though."
