The Mystery of Lake Avaleur

[Seth]

Seth wandered around the sandy shore of Lake Avaleur pondering to himself. In his History class they spoke about the strange disappearances within the lake, how people had gone swimming and never returned. Sometimes three or four people went swimming at a time and disappeared! Seth shuddered at the thought of what could be happening down there.

Was it a deadly creature that was killing them? Couldn't be, even some of their bones would make it up to topside one way or another. Was it some kind've portal to another place? No, that's just silly even for Seth. He had crashed into the lake the very first day of school and he came out fine. wet, but fine.

"Hmmm." He said thinking and looking out into the lake.
My life will get infinitely better if I could find out what was going on down there. I'd be the town hero and I could get enough respect to get Elliot back.
He looked out, it seemed like a clean but regular old lake. Practically harmless.
He winced feeling just a little bit of pain from the burn on his back he got from his last adventure.

"Is this a good idea?" he said out loud thinking to himself.

[Phillis Von Christ]

"Is what a good idea?" Phillis asked, he had been passing by when he heard someone talking to themselves. He couldn't help but intrude.

[Seth]

"Eep!" Seth jumped realizing someone else was there. He'd never seen this person before in Avaleur. Thinking to himself for a moment he realized this was the person Dante was talking to in the hallway his first day of school.

Seth thought if he was going to be the hero of the town it was time for him to get brave or at least act like it since bravery wasn't really his strong point.

"Well people have been gossiping about how swimmers go out into this lake and never come back and I'm going to go find out what it is."
Seth couldn't believe what he had just said, now he HAD to do it or else the older one would know he was not brave.
"Er..Uh would you like to join me?" Seth quickly thought. If he was going in there he sure wasn't about to go in alone.

[Phillis Von Christ]

"Ew. No." Phillis said, disgusted at the thought. "I'd get my clothing wet..but you can go ahead..even if it is gross."

[Seth]

Gross? Seth thought. He'd always been swimming in lakes like this where he was from.
"Well hey there's no rush or anything.." Seth said trying to save face.
"What's your name?" Seth said smiling.
"My name is Seth."

[Phillis Von Christ]

"Phillis." Phillis answered, he shook the boys hand hesitantly. This kid seems sketchy, what is he even doing out here?

[Seth]

Seth smiled friendly.
"Well Phillis, how would you like to be apart of a very important scientific study!?" He says trying to sound enthusiastic and assuring.

[Phillis Von Christ]

Phillis cocked an eyebrow. " It depends. Tell me more."

[Seth]

"Well Phillis, all you have to do is go out for a not twenty, not ten, but just a five minute swim in lake Avaleur and five gold pieces are yours!" Seth said holding five gold pieces.

[Phillis Von Christ]

Phillis looked out to the lake, and then back at the boy. "What kind of a scientific study is that?"

[Seth]

"Well I heard when people go out into that lake they dissa-" He said catching self. "Dictate themselves... into rising super stars. You go out into the lake for just five minutes and I'll stand here and watch to see if I see any changes." He said again trying to sound reassuring.

[Phillis Von Christ]

"I don't believe you. Why don't you go into the lake?"

[Seth]

The question caught Seth off gaurd. "Well I would but.." He says looking around quickly. "Oh fine." He reluctantly says. But if something goes wrong find Dante."

[Phillis Von Christ]

"Oh..Yeah..sure." Phillis said. Hearing Dantes name had reminded him of the events that took place earlier that day. He shook it off. "Whatever, let's get this over with."

[Seth]

"Okay." Seth said taking his white collar shirt off and shoes while leaving his pants on.
He walked to the river shore and took a deep breathe. He began swimming into lake, the water felt cool and refreshing while swimming that Seth thought, "Maybe they all just stayed in the water too long and drowned or something."
It was when he was a little ways inward Seth thought of a prank to pull he dove underwater for a moment so Phillis wouldn't be able to see him.

[Phillis Von Christ]

Phillis had looked away for a minute and when he looked back, Seth was gone. Where did that kid go?.....Does this mean I don't have to go in the water anymore? Maybe I should just leave.

[Seth]

Seth rose to water in a panic and yelled, "Phillis! It's got me Phillis! Help!" He said flailing his arms around splashing water all around him before going back under water.

[Phillis Von Christ]

"What is it? What's got you?" Phillis called at the boy. He sighed. Did this mean he had to go into the water? He certainly didn't want to especially for a boy he'd just met.

[Seth]

Seth held his breathe under water. Maybe just flailing isn't enough. He thought to himself. He definitely wanted to trick Phillis into believing he was in real danger so he wouldn't be alone in the lake if something actually did happen. He remembered the Hydra that he and Dante had faced before. This will get him. He said shifting into a large green and black Hydra and surfacing above water. He just wanted to scare Phillis as a prank so he roared out with his tentacles causing waves in the water.

[Phillis Von Christ]

"Ew!" Phillis exclaimed at the sight of the tentacles. "That water in un-sanitary!! I'm not going near it!"
