((this takes place a week or so AFTER the Wolf Attack Thread))
Aldon had walked through the forest along the Traveler's Path, the entire length of it, to get to Avaleur. His parents were from the city, and had their children on the farm so he looked like a farm version of an Avaleurian citizen. He was stronger and faster than many guards from his various run ins on the farm with raiders and wild animals, but he knew they'd kill him in a fight.
Aldon stopped, a few feet away from the open gate of Avaleur. His ancestral home. Aldon sighed, thinking back in sadness about his parents. He felt his body get warmer from the sad thoughts, an indication of his fire nature even though he didn't realize it yet. Aldon sighed again, then took his first step into the city and kept going. He looked to his side and spotted the Knight's Tower, even though he didn't know what it's name was yet. He narrowed his eyes as a strangely garbed man walked by. He was in a robe and hunched over. Aldon kept walking forward, passing by houses and market stalls. Then he flet a slight tug at his waist. Aldon quickly turned and slapped the hand of the man away. He seemed surprised, but quickly ran away. For a man with a hunch, he ran fast, especially when the hump fell out of his robe and onto the ground. Wood. Aldon frowned, not liking the city so far, then turned and kept walking.
Delliks was walking through town, yes finally he had made it into the city! He happened to see what happened and he chuckled because he hadn't had some quality fun in awhile. He accidentally tripped the man running with a hump and as he fell swiped his bag of change which he decided to trade with his significantly smaller one. "Oh, I am sorry sir. Here you dropped you bag," he helped him up and set the bag in his hands, "Oh wait don't forget," he handed him the piece of wood. "I am no studied of the body but I would imagine you need such a large chunk of your back eh. Want me to help you to the infirmary? It isn't far and I'd be glad to." The man took his this and grumbled so incomprehensible words. He left and delliks only laughed.
He debated whether or not to go talk to the boy who had been an almost victim. He didn't want his day in town to be absolutly horrible so he went to talk to him. In the wilderness and just outside of Avaleur the snow was starting to stick and build but here in town it would snow over night and only some would remain throughy the day. Soon though it would be a cold and icy mess.
He finely caught up to the man, "I had never seen such a thing, a man who could take a part of his back off and put it back on! One of this worlds many wonders eh?" he said smiling hoping that him refering to the incident would catch the boys attention and a real conversation could begin.
Aldon looked at the newcomer with interest, his blue eyes a little calmer than usual because of the time of the year and the surroundings. "Yes, people have developed quite a few interesting qualities over the years." He said, sticking his foot in a small pile of snow. Because of his slight raise in temperature earlier, the snow quickly melted. "But, what can we do except try and survive?" He asked the man. He looked him over, and then noticed the sword. Was he a good swordsman? Or was it for show as he had run into many of these kinds of men before. One of them gave him the scar on his face.
Delliks chuckled, "We could Not worry about survival of ourselves and focus on the weaker's survival." he causally said shrugging. "Delliks, that would be my name. And if survival is your goal you should consider making a discovery, your name would last much longer than if you hadn't."
Aldon looked at him quizzically. Maybe it was his farm boy education, but he had no clue what the man was talking about. "Well... I'm Aldon. Are you a mercenary?" He asked bluntly, as that was his best guess.
Delliks smirked seeing the lad's seemingly puzzled face. In time he would maybe understand the meaning if what he had said. "A mercenary?" he raised an eyebrow and the his arm just a bit and smelled his pit, "Do we have a definite scent or something? I only ask because yes, I used to be a mercenary.." he paused thinking, "I suppose I still sort if am, I got to eat too eh." he chuckled. Truth was he turned down a lot of jobs, in fact the problem was never having money. It was holding on to it.
Aldon chuckled at the man's seemingly teenager disposition. "No, no scent. But the look about you says something about fighting so I took my best guess as you don't appear to be a guard of sorts." He looked to the castle with interest. "I'm headed over there to see what's goin' on. If you still wanna talk, feel free to come along." He stated. Then he took off for the castle, winding his way through unfamiliar streets.
He looked like a fighter? That was too bad, he wished he looked like a peacemaker. He caught up with the boy's pace. "Uh I am not so sure you will be able to get very close to any of that. They have a good area aroun the castle sectioned off for repairs an such."
Aldon chuckled. "So? I'm sure they have some sort of a practice field and I want to practice. If they don't, I guess that I'm going to the forest and hittin' a few trees." Aldon said with a smile. Aldon looked over at Delliks. "Well, you could be my sparring partner but I don't wanna leave you in ashes." He said in dark humor that only he would get.
Delliks laughed, "You should watch your words lad. What if I truly was a vicious mercenary you could have been in trouble. The training grounds are guaranteed to be closed." he raised an eyebrow, "Are you aware of what had happened?"
Delliks had to admit, he liked the spunk this kid had, the sort air he had about him. "Hey, I have an idea. You want to train, how about we go somewhere else and you could try and 'burn me'." he chuckled.

Aldon laughed. "No freakin' clue, I just showed up today after all. But sure, lead away and I'll promise to singe your hair a little." He said, stopping and waiting for the man to lead the way. Little did he know he literally meant he'd singe him a bit...
He lead away from the crowd and into the alleyways... Much faster in them than the main roads. "A bunch of terrible things happened I've been told. The queen almost died, guards and citizens slaughtered like animals. I even heard that the palace looked like a slaughter house. That you couldn't walk in a spot that didn't have blood soaked in it."
They passed by a small boy, Delliks recognized him for the orphanage he often gazed upon. He always had a soft spot for those without parents. He of course never went into it. He stopped the boy, "Take this back to the home for me will you? Share it about yourselves and don't let anyone catch you with it okay?" he smiled and handed the bag of coins to the boy. He seemed to slump over after holding it. Nearly 1000 coins... It would go to good use. "Your first day in town eh?" he changed te subject back to Aldon.
Aldon passed by the boy, rubbing his head and accidentally burned a few hairs off. He smiled at him as he went, admiring the coins. "Well now, sounds like they had a lot of fun before I got here." He said in a dark attempt to lighten the mood. "But yeah, first time in this city. Been too busy trying not to die recently, ya' know?" He asked. "And where the hell are you taking me? I would really hate to have somebody try and mug me." He said, doubting the wisdom of following this man.
Delliks stopped for a moment realize how although this was by far the quicker way, it did not exactly look trustworthy, "Oh I suppose if you are too frightened we can turn back." he smiled joking yet again. He continued forward, a couple minutes and they would be at the outskirts where he had entered, no one seemed to be around them so it should a good temporary spot.
Aldon followed behind, but he stayed wary and put his hand on the hilt of his sword silently in anticipation of something. "Okay then..." He muttered, waiting to see where this place was.
Delliks could feel the uneasiness building, he would just have to try and loosen things up. "So you say you aren't from here eh. Not am I. I came from Core, and did you travel jut as far to whitness and see with your own eyes the beauty of the land. Our perhaps for more business matters." maybe talking about themselves would make him feel more comfortable.
"No. I came because my family is dead and I'm trying to find the man who knows why. Maybe he's here, maybe he isn't." Aldon said as he saw the end of the alleyways ending. This man seemed strange... Like he was royal or something. Maybe descended from a well known person? Aldon didn't know, but he assumed he'd find out.
Delliks nodded understanding the pain te boy could very well be feeling. "And you know that he knows why? I mean sometimes thing just don't happen for any reason lad." They exited the alleyways. Rubble and destoryed buildings became the new scenery. It was the fartherest point classified as still being in the town. At least in the East North-Eastern direction.
"He gave me this sword and introduced me to my powers. 'The sword that is yours' is what he told me when he handed it to me." Aldon examined the scenery, then drew his blade to prove a point. "Ignite." He ran his hand along the flat of the blade and it was instantly covered in a bright, orange flame that extended its range a little. The fire acted like steel and fire simultaneously, so the edge was much sharper in this state while it held the ability to burn his opponents. "Extinguish." He said after ten seconds or so, then he resheathed his blade and a faint hissing noise was heard as the heat was instantly cooled. "I want to know why he gave me these... blessings, why my family was burned to ash, and most importantly who I have to confront to atone for these terrible deeds." Aldon said this last part while looking at the palms of his hands, like there was blood running through them and he was interested. "I want to get stronger, I want to master these abilities, and I want to use them to protect others who can't protect themselves. I want to discover the truth about this blade, I want to see if it has any more surprises in store for me, and I want to learn how to use it." Aldon stated, like he was sure that this was the only thing he wanted right now. "And I will go through anybody who tries to prevent me from reaching my goals." He looked up at Delliks. "And this man is the strongest link I have to accomplishing those goals."
"Hmm.." delliks was silent for a moment after he listened intently to the boy's story. "And you understand that if you do find these answers... You may not like them at all. In fact they could be something you knew all along but just didn't want to admit. You are aware an accept this possibility?" he of course knew nothing about what happened to his parents, but him having such an ability with fire... Well several theories had already arose in Delliks' mind.
