Churches. Places of worship. Stupid they were to the vampire. Graveyards and infirmaries were his specialty. But he found solace in walking into a place where the people prayed to a god or goddess. Not because it made him feel any better. But because he meant to mock such holy places.
It felt great to cause a little bit of chaos once in a while. Except with him, he liked to do it in better ways than a common criminal or mastermind. Too many years from the past was spent killing people after instilling so much fear on them. Becoming a legend was a fun bit to play in this day and age. Or for as long as he could make it happen.
He lifted his chin as he looked up at the statue of the goddess Almora. Said to be but a commoner that stopped a war by stepping between two men of royalty fighting over her. He scoffed inwardly, but made not a single sound as he felt the warmth of the candles caressing the pale skin of his face. He was dressed in black, looking like nothing but a sore spot in such a nice place.
He narrowed his gaze and looked at the statue a little longer before turning his attention to the rest of the dim, candle-lit church. It was warm in here, but the chilly air outside would be welcoming once he was out of here. But he wasn't ready to leave just yet. For the quiet atmosphere gave him a better time to think about the situation with the two other vampires he traveled with.
But thoughts of such a dilemma weren't troubling as much as someone may think. He was here in the city of the kingdom to scope out what he could as far as the residents went. What kind of people they were and such. Their fears were many and familiar to the Boogeyman. These people would be easy to feed from. Easy to instill a fear that would have them running in terror. Waking up in the the middle of the night in a cold sweat. Trying their best to go on about their lives knowing something was stalking them.
Yet they may try to come to this church and one day, they'd find out it wasn't exactly as safe as they thought it might be. Coriander narrowed his gaze and stood there at the altar, his back to the statue of the goddess. No one was around for the priest had retired for the night. Coriander would give him a couple more days of peace before he started mentally terrorizing the poor old man.
He lifted his chin and looked around. Bored. He was bored. But the night was still young and he had his interests in a couple of people to stalk for the future. Just for the thrill of cutting their hearts out while they were still alive. Coriander had a goal to make this city fear the Boogeyman. As always, he would enjoy ever bloody minute of it.
