Something Familiar. (Kitami)

She panted, letting her tongue hang from her mouth as she looked at the puppy and the mother, expecting to dart off and run after either one of them. Hanna was just completely overjoyed that she was going to be a part of something that she felt would give her so much purpose for this time in her life. Surely, it would turn out to be one of the best experiences she'd ever have besides helping people out in her life thus far. Excited? You could say that, but it would certainly be much of an understatement if you ask her.

Her tail continued to wag furiously as she kept up the play position, eying mother and pup like they were the fruit of her world. In a sense, they were. They took her in upon this first meeting and here she was, playing like she had known them forever. Kitami shifted to join them and Izzy was still running around like the hyper pup she was. Hanna laughed inwardly, not having this much fun for a very, very long time. It was a refreshing feeling overall.

Hanna sat for a moment as mother and pup met noses and then Kitami came over, getting a sniff at Hanna. And before she knew it, Izzy and Kit were back to playing for a moment or two. But watching the pup carefully, she panted happily as the little one tried to catch her by surprise. Not too easy. Hanna playfully nipped at Izzy's ear before looking at Kitami. She tilted her head a bit, having caught a slight scent of the wild dogs. Something she'd have to investigate some time of course.

But for now, the three of them continued enjoying time in their furry forms. As the two played, Hanna watched and smiled inwardly, chasing after Izzy just as Kit did, watching her get the pup out of the field. And as Izzy went and sniffed around and jumped in puddles, Hanna offered a low, playful bark at the pup, getting into that play position and just egging the pup to come at her.

Whatever fascination puddles had for Isonette quickly faded as Hanna offered the play position. Izzy let out a weird bark/howl and bounded after Hanna, quick as lightning. Kitami watched, pleased as Izzy attempted to tackle Hannah, this time aiming for the legs rather than just throw herself at the bulk of the bigger wolf’s body. Kitami let the two play a while as she wandered about, sniffing the ground, taking in the various wildlife. These woods were nice. They were calm and peaceful, rather even in this particular spot, but there seemed to be a lot of fallen trees. The winter hadn’t been merciful to the older or dead trees. She wondered how thick the foliage would get once it got to the height of summer. It’d make chasing prey interesting for her pup. Kitami could barrel through foliage just fine, but she was an adult. She’d worry about training her pup later. For now she’d simply play.

Izzy left Hanna momentarily to run past her mother, circle her, and run back. Kitami turned and sat, watching Izzy as the pup quickly hid behind a fallen tree. After a moment or two Kitami heard movement, and smiled inwardly. Isonette was slowly working her way down the tree, hoping to get behind Hanna. The pup was loud, stepping on leaves and sticks, but from Kitami’s angle she was proud to see her daughter had the movements down, the little red pup crouched low, ears cocked and listening. They’d have to work on her footing a bit so the little one would be quieter when the hunt was on. Izzy found a spot she thought suitable, peeked at Hanna, and after a moment she launched herself onto and then off the tree and at Hanna, hoping to catch the bigger wolf off guard this time. Kitami’s ears twitched as she heard movement behind her. A rabbit scurrying off. A squirrel above her chattered at a bird. And farther off she heard something moving. Bigger. But the wind was against her and she couldn’t scent what it was. Fortunately whatever the creature was it was either stupid or cocky to make so much noise. It sounded about Kitami’s size, four legs. Kitami stood, shook, and sat again, this time her back to her playful pup, who was blissfully unaware of the approaching thing. Kitami had a guess of what it was, and judging by the look on her face, wasn’t entirely worried about it. Finally the wind shifted a bit and she scented it. A male dog. Young. Healthy, no sickness or injury. Working his way to the new sounds. Good. Kitami would like to establish whose territory this was. If it had been his, it was no longer. She slowly stood, ears laid back, and waited, letting her pup continue to play with Hanna, who no doubt knew the approach of the dog as well.
