Play-By: Vinnie Jones
Name: Rodney Elias Jones
Age: 47
Gender: Male
Race: Earth Elemental
Location: The City
Guild: N/A
Class(es): Warrior/Assassin
Appearance: Roddy is certainly an intimidating man and he knows it well. He stands at 6 feet and 2 inches with a well-muscled build. Broad shoulders and a lean waist can make him look like a taller and meaner brute at times. He, however and unlike most men with his attitude, keeps himself clean shaven and professional. His dark brown hair is always neatly trimmed and well-kept to his own personal standards, which are quite high. His face alone is like a stone gargoyle. Tough, square-jawed, smooth and articulates his expressions flawlessly. His eyes are colored a gentle green, but give off the intensity of a shark’s stare. Forget having the eyes of a wolf. If there’s blood in the water, Roddy will be there to strike.
Roddy’s hands are thick-skinned and calloused, adding to the large, bony and ring-adorned knuckles that have pounded in countless faces many years over. Roddy has the body of a killing machine and it fares with him well. Even though being in a human disguise offers the challenge of trying to stay alive, he has gone the lengths to make sure he can stay alive as long as he truly can. Roddy has gone good lengths to making sure that he’s very well armed. He only carries around one large knife in his belt. The rest of his arsenal are a variety of blades and small hammers that he can easily conceal on his person should he need it. And he’s very knowledgeable about most weapons out there.
Elemental form:
His full elemental form is nothing short of an actual, old-school gargoyle. Still adorned with the broad shoulders and muscles as in his human form, Roddy is and can be just as intimidating as ever. Specifically, he’s an earth elemental stone gargoyle which gives him the advantage of rock-hard skin, the ability to manipulate earth and lift a lot more than he weighs. He has limited flight however, but that doesn’t stop him. He can imbed gems into his skin and effectively make himself reflective and harder to injure. He is flexible enough to be quadruped or biped and can stand still for hours on end. He cannot swim however and magic would surely get rid of him for good.
About:
-All for one-
Roddy is all in for himself. He’s quite the selfish creature in all. He thinks he’s the best at any challenge and knows that failure is not an option. He works alone to get all of the credit himself and will work on his own terms. He’s rather stubborn and hard to convince otherwise. You’re better off letting him do what he wants if you want his time. Telling him what to do won’t get you anything but a glare and a grunt from this fellow. You only decide when and where he will work. Let him decide the rest and everything will go fine for the day. So sit back and watch the fun. He knows only to watch his own back and that’s all he worries about. There is no way to earn his trust.
-Tough as Nails-
Roddy obviously has his own ways of dealing with people that hire him when they want an assassin. He doesn’t change this quality of his personality. He’s a very straightforward person and will tell you how it should be and how he wants everything. He’ll make sure you know your place. Try and attack him emotionally and he won’t give you an inch. You can’t say anything that would get a rise out of him. Stab at him with whatever you’ve got. 150 years of life has taught him plenty of patience… Mostly. He’s got his mind straight and his intentions are solely flawless. He doesn’t care who he has to kill in the long run. Blood is blood.
-Anger Overtaking-
If you insist that he do what you tell him, you’re going to be met with more than just a verbal temper. Roddy has been known to literally knock some sense into his clients to make sure they know what they are really talking about. His temper is very quick to rise if he doesn’t get his way. Once on the warpath, it’s very difficult to get him to stop unless you catch his attention or put someone in front of him so he can pummel them to a pulp instead of you. Either that or let him take down a door or punch a few holes into a wall.
-Tactical Torturer, Komposed Killer-
There are two other things Roddy likes better than getting his way and that’s the combined actions of torture and killing. Add to that his temper, some patience and the willingness to get the job done and you’ve got a good, well-seasoned killer. He goes by many nicknames like ‘Dr. Jones’, ‘The Surgeon’, and some others. One he likes personally is ‘Smasher’, which he had gotten after a client witnessed Roddy mercilessly smash a victim’s head in with a tenderizing hammer from a butcher shop. The client made a nervous joke about it and the name stuck. Since then, Roddy chooses to end victims’ lives with a few blows to the head. When torturing someone, Roddy sticks close and firm to his knowledge of how livestock is put down. Tools of a butcher’s trade are often his favorite. He makes sure to keep his tortures as painful as possible and will often start out by breaking fingers or hands to start off.
Then he will get into amputations of course to which he has no remorse. When it comes down to torturing, he makes sure it’s slow, brutal and as painful as he can possibly make it. When it comes to killing, he is rather thoughtful of the process. He will cut off hands and feet and pull out teeth to make pain unbearable. He does all of that while you’re still alive. Death isn’t that quick either. He’ll
smash your face in first and if that doesn’t kill you, the blows to your head sure will. Hands, feet and teeth are burned to ashes and buried. Bodies are left behind with nary a clue as to properly convict Jones of any wrongdoing.
- Social Psychotic -
Roddy is a sociopath by pure nature and he learned that he had to fake being normal most of the time in order to get what he wanted out of people. Pretending to be normal to this day comes naturally to him. Second nature as most may call it. Smiling, laughing and generally being a social sport in everyday life is just as easy as breathing. Most never suspect the charade to be one big hoax until they find themselves strapped to a chair with broken hands and feet. He can pretend to love flawlessly as well and has been known to take on lovers before. The women never suspected a thing until Jones disappeared and skipped town. He won’t hesitate to make friends if he knows that it will help him out as far as blending. He’ll sit down, have a drink, smile and start a conversation about some event or politics. He’s not interested in much of anything that you may like, but he’ll pretend to be until the ugly side of him comes out. To him, it’s all a game about wearing the right mask in front of the right people. He may be your smiling next door neighbor, but he won’t care about you begging him for mercy in the long run.
Secrets-
Roddy’s got some secrets and who doesn’t? His biggest one is of the man who molded him from the earth and made him into what he is today. Though he hasn’t seen this man for almost 20 years, he still has a fear towards him.
Weaknesses/Fears:
Deep water. Magic opposite his earth element. The man who made him.
Weapons/Magic:
Assortment of blades and hammers, his fists or just about anything he can get his hands on. He doesn’t really use his magic all that much.
History:
Forty-seven years ago, dear Rodney was created. Not by parents, no. But raised from the earth by using a combination of precious stones found in parts of the world and the basic dirt as a base to all of it. The man who made him come to be was a powerful wizard in another kingdom. Clive Harris was his name. To raise and control the elemental forth-coming, he gave it the name Menthadane Cothwelther. Soon to be Rodney Jones when presented in public. It took a number of days to create the elemental and seize complete control of him, but once it was accomplished, Clive molded him into a gargoyle. Just because it was far better looking than a two-legged hunk of earth.
Rodney was used as Clive's personal bodyguard and, for his sense of the earth elements, used as a tool for finding precious stones where they both traveled. Clive wasn't a popular wizard and had many enemies. So within a couple decades after creating his gargoyle, Clive was attacked and beaten until he was unconscious. Rodney, now free for the time being from his master's mental and magical ties, ran off, believing Clive to be dead. As he was free to think on his own, Rodney came to realize that living the life of a servant was something he wasn't willing to do the rest of his life. From there, he ran off and had been traveling ever since.
Along the next twenty years or so afterwards, Rodney had come across assassin scum who had no idea what he was and tried to kill him or thieves that have tried to rob him blind. However, Rodney would surprise the hell out of them when caught alone with the bastards and become the gargoyle before their eyes. Only then making them afraid before he killed them. Word got around about Rodney being a killer for hire and since then, people have given him jobs, which he gladly takes for the money. Though as a cover, he has been known to take on the job of a butcher or stablehand or, most often, a farmer's hand.
