Play-By: Howl
*Name: Aerin Vaettir
*Age: 20
*Gender: Male
*Race: Elf
Location: N/A
Guild: N/A
*Class(es): Mage
*Appearance: Aerin is tall and lean, having lean muscles that had been contributed to him from his Elvin blood more than actual physical labor. He is a handsome young man, long golden locks framing his face and swept past his shoulders. When he is working he’ll tie his hair back loosely, otherwise it is left as is, combed and cut about shoulder length. His eyes, once bright blue, are now a clouded gray from blindness. He appears as delicate as a flower, but this blind elf is capable of taking a bigger beating than most men, and he knows this because on many occasions he has.
Unlike his twin, Aerin is much more reserved in his dress. He prefers the flowing robe-like styles of other countries, and shirts with higher collars, longer sleeves, and whatever clothing that’ll fit loosely on his body without, in fact, showing skin. Due to this and remaining indoors a lot, his skin tends to be paler.
*About: Aerin, summed up in a word, is a scholar. He loves learning. He’d prefer to stay in his room all day learning the secrets of the world or creating potions or drying herbs to help people who need healing remedies in his shop. He by no means avoids social interactions, he just feels awkward around people sometimes, as most tend to treat him differently due to his disabilities. He can usually deal with these by hiding his true feelings under a mask. Aerin has an incredible knack for disguising his true feelings. Unlike his sister, he doesn’t like to go to parties or large social gatherings. Being around large groups of people makes him uncomfortable. Aerin is the quiet, gentle type, but sometimes when things get hectic he’ll step back rather than dive in.
He is the intellectual of the elf twins, and normally the one who scolds Elle for her misdeeds or must talk his sister out of something stupid. He doesn’t go out on adventures, and doesn’t take chances unless it is for the sake of his work. It is this reason he never had a serious relationship (or any relationship). Aerin has a wall up against everyone except his sister, so making friends can be difficult for him, especially when he tries. But Aerin will always try.
*Weaknesses/Fears: Aerin has a fear of his sister being hurt or killed either out in the woods hunting or in a stranger’s bed. He can usually deal with the former, but it drives him insane when his sister skips off with unfamiliar men. His biggest weaknesses are his disabilities, his blindness and his limp.
Weapons/Magic: Other; Levitation (objects), Summoning (both objects and living things)
History: Luella and Aerin were born on a farm in a small Elvin village a far ways away. Their parents were delighted with the twins, and the two grew with a strong bond. Luella, or Elle, was the troublemaker of the two, causing mischief and trouble where ever she went. Aerin was the passive scholar, following his sister into the troubles she caused and usually taking the blame when he wasn’t reading. This was life for the first few years…
One day, while the two were playing, Elle insisted they go to town. Aerin insisted otherwise, knowing that their parents would be angry if they went to town without permission or protection. His sister, always wanting to do things her way because “she was the eldest”, skipped off. Aerin followed, making sure nothing happened to his sister or that she didn’t get into trouble. Elle enjoyed herself, so much so that she wandered into the street before a carriage that was galloping at full speed towards the child elf. Aerin saw this, and had only a moment to react. He bolted forward and shoved his sister aside to safety.
The last thing he ever saw was a large black horse running him down.
He awoke with a horrid pain in his leg and saw nothing but darkness. The reality of his blindness came crashing down on him. He learned he had been in a coma for weeks, and that his sight was taken from the accident. His leg was crippled, and caused him great pain daily. He couldn’t walk on it without assistance from a cain, and pain remedies only helped a little. He had to continue his education with a special tutor, and on his way to the tutor’s house he was met with teasing and ridicule from other children. Elle would dispatch of the children, but it was a small comfort. The boy should be the protector, the strong one. Sometimes Aerin would silently cry himself to sleep at night from the pain in his leg, yet no matter how quiet he was Elle always knew and always crept into bed and held him.
The years went by and Elle and Aerin grew up. Elle took to hunting. Aerin to magic and potion making. Aerin wanting to leave home and make a living somewhere else, and Elle decided to join him.
Pets: A Raven named Lenore. She can shift into a human form that resembles a little girl. Lenore is Aerin’s guide when he is outside his usual bounds of comfort.
