*Name: Vazer'eth
*Age: 28
*Gender: Female
*Race: Water Elemental
Location: Lake Catruere
Guild: None
*Class(es): Assassin, Mage, Healer
*Appearance: Vazer'eth is very petite, standing only at 5'3 when in her normal form. She also doesn't weigh much, coming in at a whopping eighty pounds. As such, she's very skinny and not very well built. However, being a water elemental makes her a thing of beauty as well. Her hair is always glimmering even in dull light, giving the illusion that it's white even though it is actually blonde and her eyes sparkle the color of the ocean. She has soft, slightly pale skin and appears to be an overall frail being.
When in her full elemental form, however, she changes radically in appearance. She gains a body that gives the appearance of solidity, but in actuality is nothing but water. This makes the air around her almost unbearably moist to the point where it may get hard to breathe for some characters. When 'dispersed', she turns, at most, half of her body into water droplets or smaller particles to create a mist like effect in her general area and loses the appearance of solidity and instead becomes transparent.
*About: Valer'eth is kind a good majority of the time to intelligent beings and likes to talk and examine them when she can. However, she is a bit of a prankster in that she uses her abilities to play tricks on people. This usually ends badly for both parties as she just wants to make friends but ends up scaring everybody off. She will kill without hesitation if required, and actually enjoys fighting animals and then healing them after almost killing them. She isn't very popular anywhere, basically.
*Weaknesses/Fears: Valer'eth is a water elemental, and as such she doesn't like places that don't have water nearby and this may actually inhibit some of her combat abilities. When she is in her normal form, she is susceptible to regular attacks just like any other flesh and blood organism. When in her elemental form, however, attacks of a physical nature typically don't hurt her. She is weak to being contained in something as water cannot leave a sealed container. Lightning magic stuns her badly, especially if she is around salt water and this reverts her back to normal for a short period of time if the magic is powerful enough.
She is susceptible to ice magic as much as ice magic is to her. She can unfreeze ice, but at the same token that ice can also freeze her and hamper her ability to do anything really. Fire magic, if it is hot enough, could boil her which is painful or even start to evaporate her entirely. It is also difficult for her to use magic that isn't water related, and to an extent, ice related. Earth elementals also have the annoying habit of absorbing the water, turning into mud, and then reforming as solid creatures again. Thus, earth magic could also be used in the same way. Staying away from a water source for too long is also very bad for her health, and some water elementals have reportedly died from under exposure.
Weapons/Magic: In her normal form, she carries a bow and arrow and a hunting knife that is seven inches long, but was never taught how to use magic in this form and is struggling to learn. In her elemental form, however, she cannot use any sort of physical weapon in mist form and they typically disperse into water with her when she enters mist form. She can give the illusion of firing an arrow, but only have it drench her enemy, for example. But in her mist form she can use her body as a passive weapon to distract enemies, suffocate them slightly, impair senses, and even do a mass healing via one of her spells listed below. Her healing magic also can't cure tainted organisms, such as those with infections or diseases unless she uses a specific spell that requires time and for her to be utterly concentrated on the task at hand.
In her water form, she can use weapons to an extent, meaning that she can't hold onto anything physical for any long period of time without it slipping through her like water. As such, she tries to strike fast and lethally when in a serious fight. She has manipulation of water as a water elemental and can use entire bodies of water as weapons at the cost of overwhelming exhaustion if used too much in too short a time frame. Also as a water elemental, if she is in water herself, it is almost impossible to actually do anything to her as she blends into her natural element.
She was taught only healing magic, but has learned how to manipulate it in such a way to deal damage if required.
Elemental abilities:
Dispersion: A genetic mutation among her kind, she can disperse up to half of her body into mist to surround an area directly around her.
Water Absorption: She draws the water in the air or in a body of water into her being, giving her increased powers and abilities based on how much she absorbs at the cost of accelerated tiring, up to the point of near instant unconsciousness if used too much
Ice conversion: She can melt ice back into water, and to a very limited extent, form it into ice.
Spells (Healing)
Water bubble: Using a bubble of water that is infused with magic, she heals the body everywhere in rapid time, but the spell requires a source of water nearby to work with anything larger than a rabbit or cat. Organism can't move as long as they are in the bubble, but can use magic if it is known. Can be used to drown people if she doesn't leave an air pocket for the organism to breathe. Can't heal burns, gangrene, or missing body parts.
Mist Healing: She uses this with her ability to transform into mist and Water Absorption to heal wounds at a microscopic level, allowing for directed healing when she is tired or there isn't a body of water to heal. However, this can also be used to keep wounds open should curing of an infection or other circumstance be required. Can't be used to heal burns, gangrene, or missing body parts.
Infusion: This spell allows her to convert water into blood or small amounts of organic matter or vice versa. That allows for access to water when it is a dry area but she is, say, in a forest. Can be used in conjunction with mist dispersion to cast on either multiple things or to focus on one thing, most useful for survival situations or for curing gangrenous body parts, missing, or burned body parts. If used without a certain level of concentration, it could backfire and end up injuring Valer'eth.
History:Valer'eth was born to a poor family of elementals and was found to have what her people call 'The Gift'. This gift was dispersion, the alternate form of a water elemental. Whereas most simply transformed their body into a vat of water shaped like a body, she could actually form mist with her body and any water her body is touching.
This set her apart from everybody in her village, and when the nobles heard of her powers they immediately bought her from her parents (threatened to kill her if they didn't comply) and took her to a sacred temple of their people. She was raised as a healing priestess and defender of It alongside others who shared her ability. It was a creature that allowed the survival of her people if they sacrificed one infant to it every year. It was a cruel deal, but she was raised to do it. She sacrificed only one infant and it still haunts her to this day despite her cheery attitude most of the time.
When she sacrificed the child, however, It spoke to every priestess in the room. It was displeased at this particular sacrifice, and required one of them to make up for the displeasure. Immediately, every priestess in the room attacked and subdued her. Before she was sacrificed, she asked two questions. One was why were all the children male and why did It require a sacrifice. When the head priestess answered both her questions, she could only stare in horror.
They brought her to the altar where green flames flickered to bring her to the next life at the behest of It. In one last desperate attempt, she dispersed into mist but was forced back into solidity by the head priestess. She landed hard and rolled into the alter, tipping it over and sending it crashing to the ground. The altar was fine and continued to burn, but it also put a crack into the floor. Pressing her luck, she turned into water and forced her way down the crack which led to a small underground resivoir that probably fed the temple's fountains. She immediately found a small crack that led to the surface and fled the temple in search for a new home. She can only assume that the priestesses are still hunting for her but don't know where to look or that they simply killed somebody else and forgot about her.
