Well large things have small beginnings, and it's amazing what can happen when you throw together a few ideas to come up with a character that turns out to develop further than what was originally planned. Everyone gets their ideas from MANY places and I wanted to know, where did you get YOUR ideas from or what inspired you to create your own original character.
I'll go first for an example.
Seth (My first character) - Seth was originally supposed to be the reluctant and shy shapeshifter, but the more I roleplayed with him, drawing inspiration from How To Train Your Dragon (Hiccup) and Scott Pilgrim vs The World. I made him a shapeshifter because I wanted someone who could literally fit into any scene. He was supposed to be one of the characters where you couldn't tell if he was a genius or stupid. Eventually he'll become more like Tony Stark (Iron Man 1 2 and 3) the more he gets pissed off.
Steele- This was back when I watched "The Penguins of Madagascar" RELIGIOUSLY on Nickelodeon, and I always loved the name Rico. I really had the urge to make a werewolf I could role play as since I gained a bit of confidence. His accent comes from the movie "Plague Dogs" (Which will leave you in tears)
The Fox is what he's inspired from. Originally he was supposed to be a con artist, a bully, but his character has changed dramatically since then to now where he's a bit lost.
Balius-From 3rd grade all the way until the end of spring this year I had run track and field. I ran with pride for my summer track club Excalibur, and our Rivals were called Track Iowa. Now every track meet during 7th grade I kept hearing of a person named "Balla" (Bal-ah) Eventually at the end of the season I finally got in a race with Balla, and he was the buffest 7th grader I've ever seen and he got all kinds of respect from his team. (I later claimed that respect after I beat him ) So now everytime I think of someone, a brute in command, I thought of Balla, and eventually altered it to Balius.
Ryn- Goku from Dragonball Z. I wanted an adventurer character but I didn't want a human. And his pic was too badass to pass up.
Drawing inspiration form Mortal Kombat really helped me flesh out the story of the Crux clan.
Lianne- Before Avaleur, Roland and I used to RP ALL the time with legos. (He had a very diverse expansion of warriors and starwars.) Through the years we had created this EPIC universe, and one of the characters happened to be Lianne. I wanted Lianne to be the savior of that universe, its number one hero, but....things happened and I grew frustrated with the character. One day I basically said to myself, "F this, if I can't make her the number one hero, I'm going to make her batshit insane!" And she quickly became my favorite character. If any of you are daring enough to RP with her, good luck. Ask Roland for details about that.
Ranulf-Skyrim.
Dax- Daemon Salvatore from Vampire Diaries.
Most unique character I've ever seen. Drew some of his backstory from Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.
Ethan- An original character. I created him out of scratch. Orignally he was supposed to be the town punk, the one who causes trouble.
That's it, how about you guys?
