Sophia peeked out from around the tree, eyeing the very fat rabbit that had passed in front of her not too long ago. She had been following the tricky devil for the last ten minutes, unable to find a clear shot. But this was her chance; it had finally stopped moving to check for food. Sophia had been stepping lightly, avoiding all the fallen twigs and branches she could while having her bow drawn.
Focusing, Sophia brought the bow up as she squatted and moved out from behind the tree. This was lunch and dinner, so she wasn't letting it get away. She placed her fingers on the bowstring and pulled back while producing a very smooth ice arrow. Once the string was fully drawn, a translucent arrow made of ice was knocked and ready to be used. Sophia brought the bow up with her arm slightly bent and aimed right for the rabbit's spinal cord. One shot and it was over, unless she missed. Thinking this, she took a precaution and sent a spike of magical energy into the arrow. Now, even if it missed, the instant chilling effect should stop the rabbit in its tracks long enough for her to knock and loose another arrow. Sophia took a deep breath, quietly, then let it out as she released her fingers. The ice arrow sliced through the air, floating effortlessly towards its mark.
*one hour later*
Sophia had a nice little fire going near where she had killed the rabbit and had found a stick perfect for roasting the rabbit. The skin hung near her on a low hanging tree branch, the innards thrown a good distance away for the smaller predators. Most of the meat of the rabbit was on a stick, hovering over the fire and cooking diligently while the hindquarters had been cooked separately for Sophia's lunch. Picking a still hot leg up, she smiled as she thought how funny it was for an ice elemental to be eating hot food. She had thought that many times, but like any living creature, her body had acclimated to the change and she had almost as easy a time eating hot things as humans did. Sniffing the cooked meat, she felt her mouth water slightly and finally ended her self imposed torture, taking a good bite out of the leg. She chewed it carefully, making sure it was fully cooked, then when she was satisfied she continued eating.
As she ate, she examined the woods around her and admired their beauty. The trees were all fairly tall, indicating age, which made hiding much easier. On the other hand, getting good shots was more tricky as well. She noticed moss on some of the trees and oriented herself, looking east towards the city known as Avaleur. She had heard of a Hunter's Guild and was eager to try her hand among what she assumed were the best in the area. Maybe she could take on a bear? Or go more exotic and get a couple tigers? She ate away merrily, thinking these thoughts. It was a good day today, and hopefully it would get better when she finally got to Avaleur.
