Meryl stopped eating and wiped his mouth, listening to question before pondering it quietly. After a moment he opened his mouth to speak. "Well I really didn't have one. I mean where I come from there was really no one I could look up to, well, I guess my mother if I had to pick someone." He said stroking his chin before looking to her with a smile.
"Whats your favorite legend?" He cooed throwing his question out there suddenly as to avoid a depressing subject from his past coming up and ruining their mood.

“That one is easy,” Elle said, watching the waitress come over and fill her mug again. Elle fished into her pocket, produced a coin , and dropped it onto the table, where the waitress snatched it up and gave the elf a smile before walking off.
“There’s a story that speaks of two children getting lost in these scary woods. They travel through it, avoiding dangers and trying not to be hurt or separated. By the end of it they fall through a still pool of water and end up on the other side, where this huge ornate door stands, and two giant deer, glowing blue with ancient runes guard it. The deer tell the children that they had died, and that the forest had been a test to see if they were worthy of a new life.”
Elle pulled off some more meat slowly, watching heat escape it in the form of steam before it faded. She popped the meat into her mouth, chewed, and swallowed, before smiling at Meryl.
“It is a bit dark, but it was always my favorite,” She said softly, before thinking. What to ask next?
"Hm? I didn't find it dark at all! I found it rather interesting, not like it had a bad ending at all." Said Meryl stroking his chin softly as he watched her with a bright smile on his face, he did enjoy the small tale. "Its as good a tale as any other to cchoose from." He said in a matter of factly tone.
"Oh that! That's because of my foster mother...she is...well...she is hard to explain she appears as an elf but I think she is something much more then what she lets on. She is a profound healer and is very powerful. Her domain is a lake and she is Lady Vivien of the Lake, being her son and protégé I've inherited the title Merlin or Meryl of the Lake." He said with a chuckle as he took another drink from his mug which had been filled by the passing waitress.

Elle smiled at Meryl. “You should hear the full tale one of these days,” she said, before turning back to her food. She paused as Meryl explained his title, talking about his foster mother. She mused over this a moment, wondering what Lady Vivien was like. She was glad to hear Meryl had someone in his life that cared for him at least. She also must have been powerful in order to teach Meryl. Elle took another bite of meat, finding it a shame that this profound healer hadn’t been in close distance to her brother when he was hurt.
“She sounds interesting. I wonder what she’s like. She must be an amazing person,” she said softly, sipping her drink thoughtfully.
Meryl smiled and nodded slowly agreeing with her about having to hear the full length of the story. He placed his head in the palm of his hand as he placed his elbow against the table with a grin on his face. "Now look who is bold hinting she wants to meet my parent." Snickered Meryl poking his tongue out at her playfully.
"She is very gentle and kind." Said Meryl looking down at the table with a faint smile as he thought about Vivien and his home at the lake. "But I cant go back." He whispered under his breath as he took the final gulp of his ale.

Elle paused, realizing what she said could certainly be translated as a strong hint, if not a blatant wish, to meet Meryl’s parent. She smirked and gave the mage a playful shove, which was really just a nudge at best.
“Oh, hush,” she said, smiling brightly. The smile faded however when Meryl softly stated that he couldn’t go back, then proceeded to finish off hid drink. Couldn’t go back? She wondered what kind of circumstances one had to be in for them not to be able to return back to their home and family.
“Why can’t you?” Elle asked, pushing her plate and mug away, deciding she was done with both of them for the night. Her stomach was full enough and her head had a pleasant swimming sensation to it now. As much as she’d like to indulge herself further, she wanted a clear head for when Meryl met her brother, assuming they were still planning on dropping in on Aerin.
Meryl rubbed the back of his head nervously as he pondered on whether or not to answer her question. A frown was on his face as unpleasant memories surfaced and reflected in his eyes, he looked away from her with a soft sigh. "My homeland is not to fond of demons as you know, it is currently going through a crusade....they are hunting all demon kind..." He said softly finally looking back to her.
He took notice of her pushing away her plate and grinned at her softly. "Sure you don't want a few more drinks? I find its a lot more fun when one is under the influence of drink..." He trailed off in his usual playful manner. He stood up and wobbled for a moment feeling his own drink going to his head softly, he swayed softly and shook it off. "Ok...I'm fine." He said with a deep breath.

Elle frowned, watching Meryl’s reaction to her question before explaining that his homeland was currently going through a crusade, an unpleasant word. They were killing all demon kind back where he was from. So that must have been why Meryl came here. She wondered if his mother would be spared from this crusade or if others regarded her as a demon too. She hoped not. The people who hurt Meryl would probably have a lot in common with the village folk of her own home.
She looked up at Meryl stood, swaying a bit in place, before regaining himself and assuring her he was fine. She smirked, amused at this, before standing up herself. She felt the alcohol rush to her head, and she leaned on the table until her head settled down a bit, leaving her with the fuzzy, warm feeling of being almost drunk. She looked back to Meryl, having second thoughts about taking him to Aerin. Two half drunk people stumbling into Aerin’s home didn’t sound all that great, especially if Meryl wanted to have Aerin join his guild or whatnot.
“Maybe we should wait to speak to my brother,” Elle said, voicing her thoughts. “We both seem to be a bit tipsy. I don’t think Aerin would take us seriously this way.”
Meryl held his head for a moment as the pinning stopped and he settled on Elle and grinned at her offering his hand. "Oh love you dont know how charismatic I am! Specially when tipsy~" He cooed to her before laughing and nodding. "Maybe you're right." Said Merly winking at her softly and taking her hand quickly. He pulled her into him giving her small spin before their bodies met, he smiled softly to her.
"You smell just as lovely as you look deary~!" Said Meryl winking to her softly and making the doors to the Pub fly open with his magic. "Shall we be off Mi'lady Elf Queen?" He cooed cheerfully before tapping his chin. "But if we shant go to your brothers, then where may I inquire do we go?"

Elle let out a small laugh as Meryl spun her, making her world spin and tip for a brief second even after he caught her and held her close. She wrapped her arms around him in a small hug, burying her face into his shoulder a moment as he complimented her. Ah, how she liked this feeling. Being held and feeling safe with Meryl, feeling like he actually cared for her. She hadn’t had this feeling in a long time, and she enjoyed it so.
She stepped back and glanced over to the door as it flew open, a few people looking at the door through drunken, bleary eyes, and she thought about it. Where would they go?
“Well,” Elle said, taking Meryl’s arm and leading him out of the pub. “There is always my cottage. It is a bit of a walk from here though, if you don’t mind the exercise. We’ll pass Aerin’s place on the way, maybe if he’s downstairs and the drink cools off we can stop in for a chat or something. Maybe.”
Meryl held onto her keeping her against him with closed eyes, heart almost skipping a beat. She made him feel like nothing else in the world mattered to him, well, atleast when she is close to him. He felt himself deeply caring for her and he didnt hesitate.
"Oooo and I know what the cottage has in it that always interests me!" Said Meryl with a devious grin on his face as he followed her linking with his arm around hers when sh tugged on him. "Hm sounds fair, I can tell him what I plan on doing to his sister." He cooed playfully.

Elle laughed, rolling her eyes as Meryl spoke playfully. “My underwear is not there for you to take. If I wake up tomorrow and they’re all gone you’re getting your butt kicked,” she threatened, poking Meryl in the chest teasingly. As they exited the bar, she tightened her cloak around her a bit before lifting Meryl’s arm to slip under it and have it rest on her shoulders.
“Or perhaps you’ll tell him about your guild and how you want him to join. I think he’d rather be spared any details that you would like to share about me,” Elle said, chuckling a bit. She remained silent a moment, slightly leaning on Meryl, before looking up at him. “Do you really think you could help him? Do you really think you could give him back his sight and his ability to walk?”
Meryl laughed and gasped in a hurt manner as she warned him, as if he had such a motive in mind....ok maybe she wasnt far off. "Elle my love! I am wounded! I'd not take all your underwear! I'd leave you one pair, I need something to pull off with my teeth during our foreplay~" He cooed with a grin on his face as he rubbed his chest.
Meryl had his arm around her walking slowly now as he held her against him, a smirk on his face. "I dunno, I like my idea of telling them how I degrade you and make you squeel as I claim every inch....ok maybe the guild thing is a better idea." He snickered softly. "I'd never lie nor fill you with false hope Elle. It will be hard work...long hours of study and maybe painful spells...but I know we can help him reclaim what he lost."

Elle settled into silence as they walked. Long hours of study and painful spells. She didn't think pain would be a problem. Aerin was more than capable of taking his share of pain, plus some. Their history proved that. Nor was he above committing hours of his time to work and study. He did that already. She wondered if he'd actually commit himself to studying so hard for himself, to benefit himself. Aerin never really displayed a lot of interest in trying to regain what was lost. He sort of accepted it and moved on, which was admirable, if not frustrating.
"Well, I'm glad you're here to at least try for him. Not many ever really tried to help Aerin through his life," Elle said softly, smiling up at Meryl before looking ahead. Already they were getting close to her brother's shop. The fact that he lived in a convenient location made his place an excellent choice for Elle to stumble to when nights at the pub got a bit too long.
Meryl walked along with her as his eyes moved from her then skyward dancing rapidly as he already contemplated the methods of healing and how much energy it would require for such a regeneration spell. A grin spread across his face as this tested his knowledge and imagination.
He snapped back to reality as she spoke and he looked down at her with a smile. "I wont play the part of the hero completely, I do have alterior motives in this. I do this partly to make you smile after all." Said Meryl with a sigh and feigning guilt as he looked away from her dramatically. "Forgive this lecher! Using this act of kindness to win you over..." He cooed looking back to her with a wink. "I'm glad I can be of some use." He looked ahead unawre of which was Aerin's shop.
