Stacy stared out at the people working, and the boats circling the harbor. The day seemed as busy as always as Stacy sat on a load of frate. She continued eating a sandwich, her legs crossed.
She was clearly getting a lot sicker. Her face was pale, and bags circled her eyes. Her coughs were rough, and unpleasant. She was constantly getting headaches and the like. Stacy was becoming even more thin, and overall she looked like hell. It was bugging her. I shouldnt be dropping dead this fast...
People passing by would stare at her in pitty. Children would giggle and point, thinking it was funny that a girl was not keeping good care of herself. But Stacy did not mind. They did not know better. Stacy just sat and stared, enjoying the breeze on her sickly skin.
Roland entered the harbor, he had money now. He could go home, but did he want to? Would he be accepted or thought as a coward that tried fleeing the war. Roland had made friends, become a knight, and had a pet. He stood looking out into the water, was it worth it? Being away from home, his whole life was back there. Could he really just make this new one?
Stacy managed to spot Roland, and a large grin grew on her face. "Roland!" she managed to cough out, and waved. She jumped down from the boxes, leaving her sandwich, and ran over to the man. Practically gasping for air, she laughed, "Hey! How have you been?"
"Hey Stacy! I have been good." he laughed she somehow always seemed to make him smile, must be her energy, "How have you been? You look like you have a cold or something."
"I know but... Well it's... It's just hard. I feel like I am betraying one or the other. If I stay I choose to turn my back on my country, old friends, and family. But if I go I betray the people of Avaleur, my dreams, and my new friends." he sighed, "I just don't know what to do."
"...maybe you should...send your family a letter, and ask what you should do!" Stacy grinned. "That would be one of the more logical things to do! Or you could just follow your heart."
"And what about you? How can I help you out. Anything at all." he wanted to help her with her sickness, but he would do anything to at least make it not seem so bad if he couldn't help.
