Phillis was exhausted. He had received so many complaints and requests from the people that he couldn't keep up with them. It's not that he could put them off, because they were all very important necessities that Avaleur was badly in need of. Food, shelter, protection, jobs.
He knew that Avaleur alone was beyond repair for one man to deal with, but perhaps with help.. Yes, perhaps with the help of a bordering kingdom, they'd be on their feet in no time. Especially when the king was someone so dear to Phillis himself.
Paineston and Avaleur didn't have good history. But now they were literally brother-kingdoms. There was no reason they wouldn't work well together. He would write a short letter to Winston, explaining the idea, and then meet up with him and discuss it further. There was no reason it wouldn't work.
Phillis took out a piece of paper, quickly writing down a short letter addressing it to his brother. If he was confident about two things, it was his magnificent handwriting and his power to string words together so beautifully that people didn't realize it was total bullshit.

Namari quickened her pace through the castle, looking for Phillis. There were things needed to be addressed to him. She soon stood infront of the library. Walking in, she tied back her now short hair as she walked up to Phillis. Peeking over his shoulder, she asked, "What are you doing?"

"Looking for you." She smiled. "Dante said he had a lot of running around to do, so he needed me to tell you that Steele says you should figure out a way to fix the whole issue of supplies not coming into town. Dante also wants you to build a school in the castle...and I've heard other things like people wanting new houses built, more jobs, things like that."

Phillis nodded his head as he listened to the different suggestions. Most of which, he had heard many times before. "Actually I had an idea, something that won't fix all of our troubles but will surely lessen them." He began, as he pointed to the letter he was writing. " I'm writing to Paineston.. Well, more specifically, their king."

Namari frowned, scratching the back of her head. "...Phillis...I don't know if that's such a great idea...the people probably would not be fond of their king asking favours from a kingdom that tried to destroy them."

"I know." Phillis seemed rather optimistic about the idea. " But it's Winston, he'd never attack us. I'm sure the people would come to understand. After all, I'm doing this for their benefit."

"I've given it thought and really, what other choices are there?" Phillis sighed, slumping back in his chair. " It would help to have the support and protection of another kingdom. Everyone will just have to get over the past and move on."

Namari grunted, crossing her arms and leaning up against the wall. "Maybe, but you should see how the people react first before you send the letter to your brother."

"If they react so horribly, I can always ask...Bataille...for help..." Namari frowned uncomfortably. Asking her family for help would be horrible. But she wanted Phillis to know he had more options than asking Paineston. "I'm just saying Phillis, do what you wish. But if it will cause harm to Avaleur at all, like starting another riot, it is best to avoid that method."

Phillis thought it over a moment. " I suppose I'll get some extra opinions on the matter, but I'm not letting this letter go to waste. I still plan to send it and discuss the matter with Winston." he paused a moment. "But just discuss it, I'm sure Winston wouldn't agree if he thought it would make me look bad. He is still my brother, after all."

Namari nodded, slightly relieved. "A good plan, my king. Now I must ask, have you been in contact with any of the other kingdoms to form alliances? I know that Littlebay is sending food, if I am correct. I am also wondering if we will be starting up some new farms, or mines soon to also help out?"

"Yes, Littlebay has been helping us quite a lot. I thought about forming an alliance with them. They haven't done anything to harm us in the past, and they're so small, we could help to protect their land in return." Phillis smiled a bit. " I haven't thought about starting up new farms or mines but that's a good idea. It'll give an opportunity for more people to work. We should start on that as soon as possible."

Shaking her head and laughing a bit, Namari stated, "That's no way to look at it! Think of it as a way to...make friends with those who hate you, so you become a great and loved king."

"I suppose you have a point." Phillis could see Namaris point. He smiled. It made sense, he wouldn't want them to continue hating him now that he was their king. "I've never been particularly good at making friends. But.. I'm sure I'll manage to overcome that obstacle."
