Namari softly smiled, and pet Gabriel's head. She had never been this close to a lion. "I sometimes wonder why you're not the kings hand. It seems to me you would be a better choice. I mean, the people absolutely love you, and look up to you. Hell, I'm sure people concider you the head of the knights instead of me!" the elven woman laughed.

Namari chuckled. After a few moments of silence, she frowned once more. "If I don't come out of this war alive, you have to convince Phillis for you to become hand of the king. I really don't know if I will live or die, hopefully live, but I'm just being realistic."
Roland nodded an respected this realistic discussion, "If you wish, then yes. I will make sure I do everything I can for that to happen. But, are you sure?" he asked.

"Oh, of course!" the woman chuckled. "Walter and Phillis arent on very good terms, I'm not yet very close to Kavanah, so I do not know if he could do it. Steele isnt much part of the knights anymore. You're the best candidate for the job."
Roland hadn't really thought about it, but it did seem like he was the best after all that. He didn't know Kavanah too well either and Walter and Phillis did seem to bash heads from time to time. "Well then if it comes to the worst of things, then alright. I will do it. Thanks you," he wasn't sure if he should thank her or not, it was kinda weird. But he wasn't sure what else to say about it.
"Have you been out here long?" He said referring to her being by the lake alone.
Roland sighed, "Trying escape some of the madness." he hated to admit it but he had to tell Namari. "The guards and soldiers, despite my constant orders and pleas, are slowly splitting. One side continues to stick with me and believes in the Avaleur where peace can be obtained with the other species, and the other. Well lets say they are not in the same perspective at all."
Roland felt very troubled about this. When he was around it would hold, but this war promised nothing about where or when he would be taken. Ethan was a good speaker, probably better than Roland. He was able to sway the minds of his piers with a couple of sentences, and if Roland wasn't around to counter, well...

"People will think as they wish. When it comes down to it, this will always be the case. That people will believe everyone can get along, and people that believe no one can. It's just the way life is. My people believed us superior, and thought little of any others. Believed none could get along. And look at me, I accept all who do not wish harm to my people. And hell, I don't blame most for not thinking we will win. With what happened the last battle? It doesnt mean they wont try, right?" Namari turned and looked at Roland, still petting the lions head.

Namari stared at the boy before chuckling, taking her hand away from the lion and patting his knee, resting it there after. "I'll do everything I can to make sure everything's okay Roland. I promise."

"It's the least we could do for eachother, I suppose. What with being knights together, fighting off riots, wars and dragons..." Namari smiled up at the sky.
"Wow, it really has been a lot that we have been through." he also thought of Steele through all that. It wasn't until the war that he went back off course really. Gabriel got up and began to drink from the water.

Namari sat up once more, her hand still on Roland's knee. She looked at him and smiled. She hadn't realized it before, but she did think of him like a brother. She'd always wanted a little brother.
"I suppose it has. It's funny, you'd think after all the three of us went though, he would choose our side..." Namari frowned. She shook her head, smiling once again. "I'll try not to think about it!" she said, ruffling Rolands hair atop his head.
Roland let her mess his hair up, it wasn't really fixed to start with. He sort of let his hair fall how it wanted to. "Ya," he was about to say more about Steele but he rather not talk about him when Namari was trying not to think about him.
He finaly shook his head to try and fix his hair back to normal. He had to say it, "It would be had though, to choose between your family."
"... Is there ever too Bad of terms for you to go against your entire family?" he asked unsure of the likelihood of that, "I mean I suppose that yes it very well could be that that was the case... I am sorry we should stop talking about this."
