Alice snuck through the halls of th castle, in search of the kitchen. She had been living on the streets for a few weeks now. Her clothes and body were filthy, she was starving, and she had no idea where she was. Why does this castle have to be so big? she thought. All I want it a little food..

Phillis had overheard that a mysterious young girl was found in the castle. The guards were going to remove her when Phillis decided he'd deal with it himself. He turned around the corner and spotted the girl. " What're you doing?" he asked, his voice was loud and intimidating though he was really just curious.
Alice let out a little scream and spun around. She pressed herself against the wall and stared at the man in terror, shaking all over. "I-I-I..." She stuttered, unable to get the words out. Taking a deep breath, she whispered, "I'm so sorry sir.. I'm just so hungry! I.. I was trying to find some food.." Alice started to cry and crumpled to the floor, her hands over her face.
Alice wiped her face, smearing dirt, and looked up at the man. "Th-they did but.. M-my parents are dead.. They died in the war and I had no where else to go. So I've had to steal to survive.. I-I'm so sorry.." She started crying again.

Phillis couldn't help but feel bad for the girl. She quickly pulled her into a hug. "You poor baby! I'm so sorry to hear that!" he said. The girl reminded him much of his younger sister, Cecilia, and thinking of her in that position upset him. " It's alright, you can take anything you want. No child deserves to lead a terrible life."
Alice's mouth dropped, and she stared at Phillis with wide eyes. "Phillis? As in Phillis Von Christ? You're the king?!" She was shocked; she had never seen the king before, and now he was standing right in front of her. Oh my gosh.. The king hugged me.. She though excitedly. Then, looking at his shirt, now covered in dirt from when he hugged her, she gasped in horror. Aah! I got dirt on the king!!

"Hmm.. Yep, that's me." Phillis said with a laugh. "Don't sweat it, kiddo." he said, pointing to his shirt. "My clothing has been through hell and back in this town. Dirt stains are much easier to get rid of than blood stains or something." he explained, trying to make her feel better.
He stood back up, extending his hand to help the girl up. " Lets go get you some food, alright?"
Seeing all the workers turn and stare at her, Alice squeaked and hid behind Phillis, her face bright red. She wasn't used to be around so many people, let alone having them all staring at her.

Phillis laughed again, the girl wasn't going to open up any time soon. "Everyone, could you give us a moment, please?" he asked the kitchen staff, politely. They all nodded understandingly and left.
Alice peeked around Phillis and saw the kitchen empty. She took a step away from and looked down, blushing. "Y-yes. I'm sorry; I don't mean to be a bother.." She said quietly.

"Nah, don't worry about it. I don't like any of them anyways." He said, as if to sound like a joke. But he was quite serious. He didn't like most of them. "Now, what do you feel like eating? We've got just about anything. Except for commoner food."
