Alice looked up at Phillis in confusion. Having lived as a commoner her whole life, she didn't know what other kind of food there was. "Um.. I-I don't know.."

"Uhh.. hmm Here, lets do this. I'll show you all the different kinds of food and just point at whatever looks good, alright?"

Alice nodded. "Ok.." she said, following Phillis farther into the kitchen.

Phillis opened a set of doors, leading to the main and most impressive kitchen area. In the center was a long table covered in food. Phillis gently picked up Alice and set her on one of the tall stools beside the table. She would be too short to see the top just by standing up. "What do you think?" he asked, smiling.

Alice stared all the wonderful food in front of her with her mouth open. It all smelled delicious. Instantly, her stomach grumbled and she blushed again. There was more food than she ever thought she would see in her whole life.
A little overwhelmed, she picked up whatever was closest to her; a slice of still-warm bread. Alice bit into it and almost cried at how good it was. She began ravenously scarfing down the piece of bread, and reached for another.

Phillis laughed a bit at the girls savage-like eating. " If you eat too fast you'll get a tummy ache." he warned. " Don't worry, this food isn't going anywhere."

Alice nodded, smiling around a mouthful of food. After a few moments, she asked, "What happened to your ear?" She had noticed a bandage over one when she had first seen him, but was too frightened to ask. Now that she was calm, her curiosity had gotten the better of her.

"Oh, my ear?" Phillis asked, trying to look at it but then realizing he wouldn't be able to. "I lost it in the war. Got cut off. I'm lucky that it was just my ear though."

Alice's eyes widened. "Oh no!" she exclaimed. "That must have been so painful!"

Phillis laughed awkward. "I actually didn't really notice is at first, there was so much going on. It hurts now, though." he shrugged it off. "Do you like the food?"

"It's delicious!" she said happily, grinning at Phillis. "I didn't know this much food existed!"

Phillis smiled. " I'm glad you like it." he said and then went silent for a moment. He finally spoke as an idea occurred to him.
" You don't have a home, do you?"

Alice shook her head sadly. "No.. My mama and daddy died in the war..." Thinking of them, her eyes started to fill with tears. She fought them back and looked at Phillis as she said, "Why do you ask?"

"Well, I thought maybe, if you wanted to, I could adopt you and you could live here?" Phillis threw the idea out without thinking it over. He was sure Dante wouldn't care, and the girl had been through so much trouble, she deserved some happiness.

Alice gasped, completely shocked. "W-w-what?? I-I couldn't do that! I don't want to trouble you. A-and you're the king and there's a war going on and you're already so busy!"

"Don't be silly. War is over, I'm just dealing with the after shock of the town and It's no trouble at all really. You don't have to worry about those things okay? I'm gonna make sure you have a perfect life." Phillis smiled gently to the girl, to make her feel more comfortable.

Alice stared at Phillis for a moment before throwing her arms around his neck. "Th-thank you! Thank you so much!" She managed to get out between sobs. Pulling away, she wiped her face and said while grinning, "I promise I won't be any trouble! Oh thank you thank you thank you!!"

Phillis laughed. The girl was simply adorable, no other way to put it. "It's my pleasure. Oh, there's one thing I should mention though. I'm engaged so I should probably tell my fiancee.. Well, you know what. You're so sweet, he won't mind at all."

"Your fiancee? What's he like? Is he nice? When can I meet him?" She was so excited and happy, she couldn't stop talking. "This is the greatest day ever! Thank you soooo much Phillis!!"

"We can go meet him after I adopt you, alright? It'll save us time!" Phillis laughed. "And call me Papa. It doesn't feel right if you say my name."
