Alice shrugged and blinked at Phillis innocently. she grinned and was about to say something when a huge yawn stopped her.

"You tired?" Phillis asked, smiling. He was also feeling quite tired, since he had been awoken during the first time he was having a good sleep in awhile.

Alice nodded, her eyes sliding shut. She was feeling calm now, safe and warm in her Papa's arms.
"Papa.. I can stay here, right?" she said, half asleep. "I don't have to go back to my room?"

"Of course, you can stay here. As long as you like." Phillis smiled, resting his cheek against her head. "Wanna know a secret?"

Alice smiled. "Mhmm," she mumbled sleepily.

[Phillis Von Christ]

"I'm glad you're here." Phillis closed his eyes. "I was getting pretty lonely before you showed up."

"Really?" She was surprised. "But there are so many people here.. Why were you lonely?"

"hmm, I guess you could say I'm just not good at making friends." Phillis laughed. " I work a lot too. But it's alright, you're here now and that's all that matters."

She couldn't help it; Alice burst into happy tears and hugged Phillis tightly. After the meeting with Dante had so terribly wrong, she was feeling like she should leave, so she didn't cause any more problems. But hearing Phillis say that made her so happy, and she really felt like she was home, where she belonged. Of course, she still missed her loving, biological parents, but Phillis loved and cared for her as much as the two of them had combined.

"Papa.. I'm so happy you adopted me! I'm really grateful to you and I'm happy here and.. And.. And I love you, Papa!"

Phillis hugged the girl back tightly, nearly crying as well. It sounded crazy but, he had a lot to owe her. She really opened his eyes to a lot and made him a generally more caring person. His anger issues grew smaller and smaller with each coming day and he knew it was because of her. He didn't know what it was that drew them together, but he was grateful it happened.

"Aw, Alice! Papa loves you too~!" he chimed, patted her back. " I'm glad you're enjoying your new life here."

"It's all because of you~ I already knew you were a great king, and now you're a fantastic Papa as well!" She said, then yawned again.

Phillis never thought he'd be considered a great king, let alone 'papa.' He smiled a bit. "Alright, you're tired. Time to get some sleep."

Alice nodded and snuggled Phillis. "Ok.. Good night Papa," she said, and fell into a peaceful sleep almost instantly.

"Good night." Phillis spoke through his yawn. He held the girl close to him in a protective manner even after he fell asleep.
