Rez opened his eyes and for a moment just starred up into the sky. Where was he? He slowly turned his head as he heard the waves crash gently against the beach. He got up stiffer than a rock. 'why am I do stiff?' he asked himself. He looked at his battered clothes and bruised body. 'what in the world-?' he was so confused as to what was going on. He began to walk on the beach before he stopped. Where was he going? Wait, he walked over to the water to look into it.... WHO was he?
It had been weeks since the battle on the island, which had been destroyed by the five dragons after all the combatants that weren't Fiin were off. It now lay at the bottom of the ocean. Maureth was walking along the beach, wondering how he could have ever fought FOR Avaleur. It shamed him. That's when he stumbled upon the man he had kicked right before that battle. He looked... Different.
"Rez." Maureth said simply. His eyes weren't activated, so they were his normal brown color.
Rez just continued to look in the water, he had heard someone but he hadn't called his name so he did not turn. Wait.... was that his name. He turned and confusingly looked at the man. "Do I know you?" he said hoping he did so that things may begin to be answered.
Maureth narrowed his eyes and pinched his lips together. Without even trying, he activated his eyes and used one of the last techniques he remembered. He brushed Rez's consciousness and found that he did not in fact know anything of what or who he was. "Yes, or at least you used to. Why are you here Rez?" Maureth asked, intrigued.
Maureth sighed loudly. then walked over to Rez. "Hold still, I'm going to see if I can extract anything of your past life..." He said. Maureth put his hand on Rez's head and delved into his mind, where he attempted a very dangerous feat.
(okay, I read about the multiple choice post Dadramora did awile ago, so here's another one.)
1. Maureth searched for a long time, initially finding nothing. He was about to give up when he found a small speck of light amongst the darkness of this man's mind. Maureth drew the light up to him, then fed it a steady amount of energy until it grew to illuminate the darkness. He smiled to himself, then backed away, fatigued at the first attempt at this.
2. Maureth searched for a long time, finding nothing in the man's mind. Frustrated, he delved further and further until he realized that this man's mind truly was a blank slate. No more powers, no more Rez. This man was essentially a puppet, ready to have its strings pulled. Maureth backed out of the man's mind, then backed away. He was tired from his first try at this, and it seemed as if there wasn't anything Maureth could do at this time. Maybe he could get a new ally? He didn't know.
Rez was utterly confused but stood still anyway. The man seemed to be done doing whatever it was that he was doing but he didn't feel any different. "What was the reason for that exactly?" he asked even more confused.
Maureth frowned. "I attempted to draw forth some of your past experiences.... But nothing was there. You.... You are a blank slate." He said. How to remind him of who he was...was proving difficult. Maureth decided to start with something simple. Using a basic spell, Maureth summoned a very small flame in his hand and held it out to Rez. "It will not burn you. Take hold of it." He said.
Rez grabbed the flame but immediately began to Boole it around trying to obtain a grip on it. He soon lost it and it fell to the ground. Luckily they were on sand otherwise it may have caught the ground on fire. "Soory.." he said as he looked at where it had landed before it smothered away.
Maureth laughed as Rez failed miserably to hold the fire in his hands. "That's okay there buddy, try again. This time, cup your hands together." Maureth summoned a second flame and waited for Rez to cup his hands before dumping in into them.
"To see if you can still handle magic." Maureth said. He dispelled the flames, satisfied. Then he looked at Rez. "I want you to focus hard. Try and find a place deep inside yourself... Try and find something that stands out." Maureth said. Then he held his hand out, palm down, and sent a trail of magic down his arm. It stopped at his hand and formed into a dagger. "And try to do that." He said.
Rez watched and kind of snickered he talked without really thinking, "Summoning hmm? A very interesting thing to have me do, but I could not do that if I wished it. I have to weapon that I have set to summon, I cannot create it out of nothing. Its durablity would beach too sketchy." he blinked a few times confused at how he knew all that. "I uh... What?!" he said the last part mostly to himself.
Maureth smiled. Bingo. "It isn't sketchy if you know how to do the right kind of summoning... But that wasn't summoning. If you want the truth, this dagger is formed from the elements around me. Iron, as it would be. I made this with a fusion of techniques, drawing the iron from my body and from the ground below me. Such miniscule amounts add up in time. Then an intense burst of split second heat melts it, allowing magic to shape it how I will." Maureth handed the dagger to Rez. "There's your item. Summon it."
Rez held his arm out and focused hard to try and summon a weapon. Nothing happened so he tried again and again. But to no avail. He stopped, "I can't do it."
