Alice sat in the grass, a book in her lap. Dante had asked her to meet him in the gardens today; he wanted to speak with her.
After a few minutes of waiting, she looked up from her book and saw a bunny in the bushes in front of her. She smiled and, putting the book down, quietly stood up and walked towards it. It saw her and ran, and Alice followed. She ended up in a small clearing. The bunny was gone, but a bulky man was standing in front of her. His face was scarred and mean looking, and he had knives in his pocket. He was terrifying.
"Hello little girl," he said. "You're the king's daughter, right?"
Alice nodded slightly and the man grinned, revealing ugly, blackened teeth.
"Good."
The man lunged at Alice, and before she could scramble away, he had her by the waist and dragged her through the grass. Then he ran, and Alice screamed louder than she ever had in her life.
"Shut up, kid," he growled, and hit her hard on the head, knocking her unconscious.
Dante walked through the gardens of the castle. He hadn't seen Phillis sinse their fight, and had only seen Alice wandering the castle. He tried his best to avoid her. But he did want to appologize, so he asked for her to meet him in the garden today.
As he walked through, he thought about what he would say. Of course, he would say he was sorry, but he would also mention that maybe one day she could be his child. But he just was not ready as of late.
Reaching where he asked her to meet him, he stopped and frowned. The boy spotted a book where he was meaning to meet her. Odd...
Thinking not much of it, he decided to see if she had been there. Using a spell, Dante made all recent footprints around him on the ground visible, with a light blue glow. He saw bunny tracks, and her tracks. Dante followed Alice's tracks quickly. Her tracks stopped, and Dante furrowed his eyebrows when he saw rather large prints right where her's ended. So, as anyone would do, Dante ran with the man's tracks. And that's when he spotted Alice, and a burly looking man. "Hey!" Dante yelled, yelling faster. "What the hell are you doing?!"
Theman looked up and saw Dante advancing on them. "Shit, it's that sorcerer! Ugh I can't lose this kid; I'd get big bucks on her.." he mumbled to himself as he turned and fled out of the gardens.
Alice bumped against the man as he ran, and he adjusted his grip so he was carrying her like a baby. "I just hope I can outrun this guy."
Dante gritted his teeth. He then placed some magic on his shoes, to make him go slightly faster than he was. He booked it as fast as he could after the kidnapper.
The man quickly glanced behind him and saw Dante fast approaching. "Shit!" he exclaimed, and ran faster. He grabbed one of the knives from his pocket and threw it at Dante; he had excellent aim, but considering they both were moving, wasn't completely sure it would hit him.
The blade narrowly missed Dante's face as he dodged to the side. Wanna play this game, huh? he smirked, throwing a blade of ice at him. It was more or less to scare him, and not to actually hit him.
The ice whistled passed him, and jumped to the side. Grinning, he grabbed his sharpest throwing knife and turned around, running backwards. He aimed and threw the knife, watching as it flew through the air and stuck in Dante's arm. It wouldn't cause any permanent damage, but it would definitely hurt a lot and slow him down, too. Smiling in satisfaction, he turned around again and ran full speed.
Dante gritted his teeth, ripping out the knife. Thank's for this, asshole! he thought, throwing the knife right back at him, aiming for one of his thighs.
The knife hit his leg, directly above his knee. Pain shot up his leg and he stumbled, falling to the ground. The girl flew from his arms and landing on the ground a few feet in front of him with a sickening thud.
Dante ran past the man as fast as he could, skidding to a hault at the girl. He touched her forehead, making sure to heal some of the wounds, before picking her up and looking at the man with disgust.
The man growled in anger and ripped the knife if his leg. Standing up, he lunged at Dante, trying to grab the girl. But his first step, he was overwhelmed with pain and fell again. He stared up at Dante with hatred in his eyes.
He gritted his teeth and glared at Dante. "Because I need her!" Ignoring the pain, he lunged at Dante, and in a few seconds had the girl with a knife to her throat. "Give her to me or I'll kill her right now!"
Dante was not alarmed. All he did was smile. "Come now, you must know even a little bit about me. I'm one of the head sorcerors at the castle. I can easily make a barrier around her body completely, and make it impossible for you to harm her. Or, I could make your heart explode right now. Really, either was is fun for me!"
In reality, Dante had already put a shield on Alice, so if the man tried slitting her throat he would be surprised by a shock going up his arm, and Alice being perfectly well.
"Just because I do not consider her my daughter, does not mean I do not care for her. I care about each and every citizen in Avaleur who does not harm anyone I care about. Simple as that," the boy gave a smile, shrugging.
The man growled and, throwing Alice to the ground, attacked Dante, knocking him to the ground. Pinning his arms and legs down, he held a knife to Dante' throat and said, "I don't care if I have to kill you, I am taking the girl!"
Dante chuckled, "I will be honest here. You will definitely not take the girl, my friend!" The sorceror smiled, blowing air into the man's face. But, he did not blow air, but fire.
The man howled and backed away, grabbing at his burning face. He tripped over Alice and landed with a thump on the ground. He threw a knife in Dante's direction, and saw it stick in the palm of his hand. Then, he grabbed the girl by the neck of her dress and dragged her across the ground, trying to escape with her as fast as he could.

"Alright, no more nice guy~" Dante grinned, placing two fireballs in his good hand, and threw them at the man, placing a barrier around Alice to make sure she was not harmed.
