The man screamed again as the fire balls hit him. He flew back a couple feet from the force of them, and he landed on the ground, writhing in pain. After a few moments, he got to his knees and spit at Dante. "Dammit, I give up! Keep the fuckin' kid, I'll get my money elsewhere," he said before jumping up and limped away as quickly as he could.

[Dante Ahti]

Dante stared at the man limping away and sighed. My my, why must I deal with these sort of things...?

The sorceror walked over to Alice, and picked her up as you would hold a baby. He then began walking to the castle once more, a hand on her forehead to heal any injuries she had obtained.

[Phillis Von Christ]

Phillis hurried towards the two the second he saw Dante limping with Alice in his arms. "Holy shit!" he exclaimed, extremely surprised. "What happened?! Are you two okay?" he asked as he made it over to them.

[Dante Ahti]

"I'm fine," Dante sighed. He had finished healing Alice, and was now working on himself, paying special attention to his hand with a hole through it. Dante handed the young girl over to Phillis with a sigh, "My goodness we need more security in the gods be damned castle!"

[Phillis Von Christ]

Phillis laughed awkwardly as he cradled Alice. "Yeah.. We really do." he said, gently brushing the girls hair out of her face. "What.. happened exactly?"

[Dante Ahti]

"A man tried to kidnap her. He threw multiple knifes at me, I ran after him, I got a knife in the arm. I threw it back at him, picked up Alice. He tackled me, I blew fire in his face. Another knife landed through my hand, he tried escaping with Alice again. I threw fire at him, he gave up and ran off. Picked Alice up, healed her wounds, and you got here," Dante shrugged, placing both hands into his pockets.

[Phillis Von Christ]

Phillis bit his lip as he listened to Dantes story. "Sorry for not being there, but you know, thanks for saving her. I appreciate it."

[Dante Ahti]

"It's no trouble. After all, I wouldn't just sit there and let a little girl get taken away, now would I?" Dante raised an eyebrow.

[Phillis Von Christ]

Phillis shrugged. "I suppose not. But hey, listen, I owe you an apology." he took a deep breath. He had prepared to apologize to Dante for adopting Alice in the first place. He felt bad about it and he knew he couldn't just let it slide. Now that they were finally alone, (unconscious children don't count) he knew he had the perfect opportunity.

"I’m really sorry and I don’t expect you to forgive me but hear me out. What I did was wrong, I adopted a child without your permission and that’s just really stupid.It makes me a terrible fiancee and if I want to be your husband than I’ve got to learn to ask what you want first. I want the both of us to be happy together, I don’t want to be one of those couples that dread just looking at one another. I want you to know that I really love you and I am really, very sorry for being a bad lover. And I just want to know if there’s anything I can do to make this better?" he finished with relief. He had practiced what he was going to say to himself in the mirror, but in the end he didn't end up saying it. His original speech was too cheesy and he wanted it to come from the heart so he improvised instead.

[Dante Ahti]

"...talk to her. Explain why I can't be her parent...yet," Dante frowned. "I'm not ready yet...but being around her maybe even for a few weeks, I'll probably want to be her parent. You just have to explain that to her. I love you too, Phillis. It's alright."

[Phillis Von Christ]

Phillis smiled, feeling relieved. "Honestly, I don't think I need to explain it to her." he started, looking at the girl. "She's pretty smart for her age. She catches on to these things really quickly.. She likes you and she's okay with waiting for you, she's really patient."

[Dante Ahti]

"good," Dante smiled in relief. He did not want her to feel hated. "Anyways, we should get back home. Put her to bed. She'll be fine when she wakes up, no worries."

[Phillis Von Christ]

"Thanks again, Lovely." Phillis kissed Dantes forehead gently. He shifted Alice around in his arms so that it would be a bit easier to carry her. "So, where've you been anyways? I couldn't find you anywhere for the past week."

[Dante Ahti]

"School...helping out around town...the usual stuff," Dante chuckled. "I appologize for not being around."

[Phillis Von Christ]

"You don't have to apologize. I understand. I guess I'm kinda blind, huh?" he laughed awkwardly.

[Dante Ahti]

"I don't believe you are," the boy smiled as they walked, looking around. "What have you been up to?"

[Phillis Von Christ]

"The usual." Phillis answered, and then decided to add to it. "And taking care of Alice. Which is pretty fun, actually."

[Dante Ahti]

"Oh, yeah? Well, I'm glad then," the man chuckled, stretching his back. Turning to the king, Dante asked, "So how's your ear doing you?"

[Phillis Von Christ]

"Hm?" Phillis had to gently touch his ear before remembering it was gone. " 'Tis fine. I don't really feel any pain. So that's good, I guess. I just yell a lot more now."

[Dante Ahti]

"Out of not being able to hear how loud your tone gets, or because you always yell anyways?" Dante grinned at his king, and chuckled to himself.
