"Heh," Clark had nearly forgotten he was sitting on the girl. "My apologies." he said as he stood, he helped the girl up and offered a sweet smile. " Are you alright, dear?"
"Easy to follow AND easy to catch. My my and weren't you the one who told me you've never ever been caught." Dax said emerging from Dani's shadow. His arms folded and his red eyes looking right at her, his face still emotionless. "Now now, don't be rude. The man's offering you dinner and a job after you just tried to steal from him. You have to take one of them. Or else, who knows, maybe he'll report you to the guards and have you locked away for years. I mean I would if I were him." He stared at Dani then glanced at the man for a moment. "Like I said..your sloppy and a liability. See my point now?"
"Pardon my saying so, but I believe your words are rather harsh and uncalled for, sir." Clark stood between the two. "This girl is ill and weak with hunger. Why, given the circumstances, I'm surprised she's even alive, let alone standing and stealing. I'm a professional bodyguard. Now really, you can see the odds in this situation are not in her favor. I'd politely like to ask you to take your acid tongue else where and NOT in the presence of a beautiful woman." he smiled nicely as he could.
Dax looked at Clark quickly after his response and smiled for the first time. "My apologies sir, it's not everyday you catch a theif and then show that theif hospitality. This girl is actually a very good of mine, you could say we're like brother and . I meant no offense sir, I was just proving a point to her." He lies looking Clark right in his eyes. Just like that his whole demeanor changed from emotionless to cheerful and passive. "She has a bit of a klepto trait and acts on impulse, the doctor's say it can't be fixed. i let her out of my sight for one moment and boom this happens." He shrugged his shoulders. "Well sorry for the trouble sir, no harm done, so we'll just be on our way..." He said nudging Dani's arm lightly.
Clark raised an eyebrow. "You meet someone for the first time and lie right to their face? That's not a very good first impression at all." he laughed a bit, shrugging his shoulders. " It's fine with me if you want to seem like a jackass though. I just can't help but think that this little lady deserves a better 'friend' than you."

Dani did not move, as Dax pushed her along lightly. She knew they would have to play nice once they were accepted into the guild, if they were, but until then she felt she had no obligations to. After all, he was not being anywhere near close to the nicest or friendliest being in the world.
"We are in no way friends," Dani squinted her eyes, before giving off a bellowing sneeze once more. She held her ears in pain, gaining a headache from her constantly throbbing ears. Looking at Clark, she spoke, "Thank you for defending me, but really now he's just an ass who wants to make me look smaller than I am. No use in arguing with him,"
She then turned to Dax. She crossed her arms, doing her best to ignore her ears, "Are you stalking me or something?"
