Scooter flipped through many books. He had recently taken in the injured kitten, Liesel. Although he knew how to treat her leg wound to help her stand, he didn't know much else on how to care for an animal.
He flipped through a book. His eyelids grew heavy as the mundane task was nearly putting him to sleep. He just couldn't sit still that long.
Rez was amazed by the library, but not so much in the books, more so on the fact that when he picked one up to read he found that he already knew what it was talking about. Some he had felt he had already read. Who was he?!
The man was a mix of emotions, everything was new to him, but at the same time old...
Scooter poked his head up from his book as he had heard someone else enter the library. He smiled politely. "Hello, friend~!" he chimed, greeting Rez politely.
There was a pain in Rez's gut, another person he had once known. Should he play it off or admit to him his unfortunate incident? "I am truly sorry my friend, but I have forgotten you..." he had much sadness in his eyes as he approached Scooter. "But I would like to remember, and if not that, re-do."
"That's a nice name!" Scooter smiled politely. "What're you doing here? Do you remember how to read? How did you lose your memory? Was it an injury? Are you okay?! Oh, s-sorry! I talk a lot."
"Oh, thank you. An yes I can read just fine, actually that is the really weird part. I have found that I have read most of these." he exclaimed as he motioned to the large amount of books in the building.
"But is that even possible? To read so many in a lifetime?!"
Scooter gasped in awe. "No way! That's so cool! You must have liked reading a lot! I wish I would read more like that! I think that's pretty cool. I guess that could mean your memory will come back eventually!"
"Hopefully, I mean I can remember stuff while I'm doing it but I can't really do it.... Does that make sense? Probably not huh? Well it's like if you asked me about something I could tell you all about it, but I can't do any of it and I can't remember unles you ask... It's weird.."
Rez took a look at the boy's books. "Did you just adopt an animal or do you run a pet daycare or something?" he asked trying to stir up good conversation and make a new friend.
"I found an injured kitten awhile ago!" Scooter exclaimed. " I wanted to know how to properly take care of a kitten, because I never have before. I don't want to mess up, so I decided reading books on it would be the best thing!"
"If you don't know anyone with cats then I agree reading would be the best thing. I know they like a lot of new things to explore and figure out, so if you ocassionaly show it something new it will not only be happier but it may become mentally healthier." Rez smiled awkwardly... He had no idea how he knew any of that.
"Hey, I just read that! That exact sentence. You're pretty smart, huh? You can read without even seeing the book? That's pretty amazing! Haven't ever met someone who could do that!"
