Welcome to Avaleur, a medieval fantasy roleplay site where anything is a possibility. Face bandits, or knights. Work your way up to become part of Avaleur's castle, or try your luck at being a thief. Own a shop, be a guild master, start a family. The possibilities are endless.
Raymond walked through the woods, bow in hand. Back home the forest creatures were lively and friendly, but here was very different. He wandered around aimlessly, hoping to find perhaps the dragon his cousin had wrote about, a friendly fairy to talk to, or better yet BOTH. (XD hint hint wink wink).
If he could just talk to some of the woodland creatures, maybe he could get them on his side. And a powerful force would join the resistance.

The large, golden beast of a dragon slept in a hole on the side of a dirt ledge. It slept silently, and happily. It was Benny, the Queens dragon, unaware of her capture. He awaited her return, she was supposed to visit that day. Until then, he would sleep.
On one of his legs he wore a bracelet, it had the Avaleurian colours on it. Back where Namari lived, dragons wore a similar bracelet to show that they belonged to a dragon rider, that they were not wild.
He awoke to the sound of a branch snapping above him. Maybe it was Namari! He yawned, which came out as a sort of growl, and peeked his head out from the hole to look at the top of the ledge. A young man walked by, and Benny lowered his head quickly. Not her.
Still, he was trespassing on his land. So Benny quietly climbed up the ledge onto the grass, and began following Raymond as quietly as he could, and fairly closely, in plain sight.
Raymond continued to walk forward, eyes as big as watermelons. The huge shadow of the dragon covered him. What was he to do? Turn around and shoot?! That seemed foolish, he didn't even know if it was friendly or not. Instead he continued to walk, keeping an eye on the shadow to know if it would attack or not.
Once he had walked for a while, which felt like forever, he determined that it was friendly, after all it hadn't attacked or anything yet. Raymond dropped the bow and arrow on the ground. He turned to face the dragon with his arms raised.

Benny's eyes widened. Smart man. He reminded him of something though. No...someone. Maybe that nice young man Namari had shown Benny. Roland was it? They did look similar.
After Benny and Raymond seemed to stare at each other for a few moments, Benny plopped down on his behind, waving his tail back and forth as if he were a dog. He tilted his head at the man. And then he did something his master had been teaching him how to do.
Without moving his mouth, he began to speak. "Who...you?" Benny asked, struggling to find the right words. A dragon could not speak, they had to be taught the language, and then use their magic to send it to whoever they wished to speak to. If the bond was strong enough, like Benny and Namari, they would be able to communicate with pure thoughts alone, without magic, in sight of each other.
Naturally his thoughts were fluent, because they were in dragon tongue and it would change so that Namari could understand it, but he found it difficult to speak English.
Raymond was amazed, sure he had heard of the things dragons could do to speak, but this, feeling it firsthand, was just something else. The boy bowed down, doing what he thought he should do. As he bowed he noticed the bracelet on the dragon's leg. It looked to be Avaleur's colors. He wasn't for sure though.
"Raymond Longfellow," he said as he rose from the bow. "And may I ask for yours?"
Raymond had begun to sweat but as things began to get calmer, he no longer did. He wasn't as nervous. The name Benny was familiar but his cousin only wrote of Namari's dragon a bit. Was that it's name in the letters? He decided to ask.
"I was looking for some forest dwellers. Are you Namari's dragon?" he asked, a bit nervous that the question could offend the dragon, he wasn't an expert on them.

Benny nodded his head rapidly, his tail swinging faster. He lifted up the paw with the bracelet on to show Raymond. Namari was practically his mother in a way. She raised him since birth.
"Forest dwellers not here. Fear me. Not in area here, in others around. Close," the dragon spoke, remembering more of the words Namari had taught him.
Raymond smiled, so this was Namari's. He furrowed his eyebrows. Did it know? Did it know Namari was in prison? "You know where she is right?" he asked worried about the answer. How would he calm a dragon down?!!
Raymond frowned, "She is in jail... A bunch of bad men took her there." he tried to say it as softly as possible but with Raymond things like that was always hard.

Benny's eyes grew with anger. He could feel the fire inside him wanting to roar up. "Must protect! Must go to her!" his claws dug deep into the earth. His mother, the one that was taken down by Roland, Steele and Namari, had been a powerful dragon. And with that he was beginning to become even more powerful.
The thought of Namari in jail with bad men, being trapped by bad men, it enraged the dragon. Each breath he took, smoke flew from his nostrils.
"Not even you I'm afraid could rescue her alone." he frowned, "But you don't have to be alone, join me. I am forming a resistance. Together we can save Namari and the kingdom those color's represent." he motions to the bracelet.

Benny, still breathing loudly and angrily, looked down at his bracelet. He couldn't just leave Namari to rot in a cell. But it either came down to that he would rescue her, but destroy the town she loved so much. Or she would be killed before he got to her. He had no choice.
Benny nodded slowly, trying to relax a little. "I join. Help defeat bad guys." The dragon sat up straight once more, looking Raymond over. He seemed like a strong lad, and seemed like he wished to help very much.
Raymond smiled and nodded. "Good." he walked over and picked up his bow. "Now I need to try and find some friendly forest creatures that I can talk to. Want to help?" he asked as he began to walk away. Into more forest he went.
So now that he had Benny, things would either get harder, or easier. He wondered which it would be.

Benny once again nodded, getting up and following the man. Mostly the forest creatures stayed away from him, knowing he was friendly but in fear that he may harm. When Namari was around they were fine, but alone? Not quite. Being with Raymond might attract a few guests.
"Who look for?" He asked, looking around the trees and bushes.
Raymond shrugged as he just simply trudged along. "No one or nothing in particular. Just anything really." he turned back to look at the dragon for a moment. "You see Benny, if I can convince the forest to be on my side, well then we might just be set!" The boy smiled, they may just then have enough power to win!

"Namari always kind to forest. Forest help I believe," Benny seemed to smile. He knew Namari believed the forest to be citizens of Avaleur as well. And he knew that it would not be long before the bad guys began affecting the forest itself as well.
"You must speak high of forest when talk to creatures. They like," Benny sniffed the air. There seemed to be some in the distance, so he walked in that direction.
"hm, mmhmm." Raymond listened and took note of the things that Benny was saying.... things here were a lot different than home.
Raymond turned around to see the dragon walking in the other direction, he quickly stopped dead in his tracks and jogged to catch up. He smiled rubbing the back of his head, "Probably smarter to have you lead the way from now on huh." he chuckled a bit. That did make more sense afterall.
