The Hunter is Made
Roe dodged the javelin as it soared past his head. This was supposed to be the final battle to end the reign of terror that Fenrir had been spreading across Guerre. The High Elves and Wood Elves had refused to assist, along with the dragons. The Night Elves, cousins to the Bloodeye Elves, couldn't help as they were embroiled in their own bloody civil war. Roe clenched his jaw and ran an enemy soldier through with his sword, then spun around this figure while withdrawing his sword. Using the momentum from the spin had lopped off the head of another soldier. He saw his father fly by him in his blood release form, massacring enemy soldiers by the dozens. He was so strong, Roe was glad it was his older brother that would be taking the throne. He was a proud elf, but he was an elf that had no taste for ruling.
Roe suddenly found himself next to a fellow bloodeye elf, watching as another wave of 10,000 enemy soldiers appeared onto the battlefield. Fenrir was teleporting them himself to make the battle smoother for his forces. So far, Roe's people had fought for hours on end and their numbers had gone from about 120,000 to 107,000 in those hours of battling. They had fought through miles of land and had killed scores upon scores of the enemy soldiers. They were nothing but puppets, images of Elves. Except they had round ears and were nowhere near as strong as any Elf.
"Well, Roe, looks like we're almost here!" Exen said next to him. It was his father's greatest general and he had killed almost as many men as Roe had. Roe smiled and punched the Elf on the shoulder. He winced, and Roe noticed the sword wound on his shoulder. Roe's normal form had a spear wound in the leg so he had been forced to enter his Blood Release awhile back, and he had only taken one hit. It left a cut under his left eye and he made sure it never happened again. But now, they could all see the gateway to Fenrir's fortress. Roe smiled and thought for a second. Then, he grabbed a few hundred Elves and gathered them, his father among them.
"I'm going to use one of my powers to teleport us straight into the fortress. Our mages have taken down the shields so it'll be simple. Then all we have to do is kill a few thousand elite guards and then confront a god. We can end this now, and by god as Elves we will emerge victorious!" Roe announced. Everyone in the large group of three hundred muttered in excitement. Roe drew a sword on his left side and thrust it into the ground, focusing intently. Then, a flash of light erupted outwards and engulfed every elf. Suddenly, they were on the other side of the massive gate and were face to face with hundreds of guards in golden armor with golden weapons. Just the perfect things to kill a Bloodeye Elf.
"GO!" Roe's father, the king, commanded. Every elf charged into battle. Roe dodged and blocked, massacring every enemy soldier he met. Not a single grain of gold touched his body, and Roe wiped away the blood that had gathered under his eye and on his face. He didn't like killing, but all these were just puppets for Fenrir to use and thus he wasn't killing any living thing. But he knew that he'd kill this god with his father, even if he died doing it. After half an hour of battling, the onslaught of enemy troops stopped. Were they all dead? Roe hoped so, but he heard the sounds of battle as the rest of his people fought the huge army right outside the gates. Roe's force had lost about one-hundred Elves, but two-hundred on one should be easy. They all made for the fortress, when suddenly it exploded. All the pieces disintegrated in the air, and a dark form was sent flying into the sky in a blur.
Then, Fenrir himself teleported in front of the Elves task force. "You all have fought valiantly, and as such I will kill you all quickly for this effort." He said bluntly. Then, with a wave of power he flattened every elf against the ground and lept into the air with a flourish. "Now, watch as the planet you love is destroyed." He said. A ball of dark energy formed in his hands, and then he released it. It turned into a massive wave of energy so large, the end wasn't even in Roe's line of sight. It was so wide that it blocked out the sun. The very earth shook from the force, and the sounds of fighting stopped outside the gates. Suddenly, plumes of magma burst forth from the ground, incinerating everything in its path.
"What have you done?!" Roe's father called out to Fenrir. The god looked down with glowing black eyes.
"I have ended this world in its entirety. Now, what you fought so hard for is disappearing beneath your feet." He said. Then the god teleported back down to earth and stopped in front of the king. "Now, do you want this world to disappear forever?" The king shook his head in fear, even shaking visibly. "Then agree to these terms..." The god said. Then he leaned over and whispered in the king's ear. After a few seconds, he looked at Roe and smiled.
"Good luck, my son..." He said. Then in a burst of light, he was gone. The magma was nonexistent, and the sounds of fighting were gone completely. Roe looked around, and saw that none of his living brethren were here anymore.
"Where are they?!" Roe demanded from the god. Fenrir chuckled and pointed a finger at Roe.
"You shall be the balancer of this world, the one that corrects the paths of every race. You shall hunt down and kill any who I deem necessary, and you will do this for twenty millenia. Then, and only then, will your people be free from my power. Unless you manage to kill me, but as you just saw that isn't possible. Fight and kill, Roe, and become my Hunter. I will give you your first target tomorrow. Farewell, Hunter." WIth that, the god disappeared. Roe laid there, too shocked to continue on with any sense of thought. Was this the punishment of his people?
