The stoned pathways and 'roadways' of the city had gotten to a horrible state, the worst state you would have been able to lay eyes upon. Huge potholes, rough spots, uneven stonework, you name the type of problem that could be attributed to a road, and the city roadways of Avaleur had them. In fact it was a well known fact that any stage coach, carriage, cart or anything else of the like had to use the main roadway if they hoped to make it to their destination without damaging their construction to a point where more money would be spent trying to repair the cart then it did to ship the goods or people.
With winter well out of the way the city was handing out jobs to the people to repair the damaged roads. The more intelligent workers were put in charge of laying the brick and stone, so that everything would be placed correctly and with great precision, while the less educated in those types of areas where put into the deconstruction and carriers. Delliks fit in with the harder labour. Because of his strong back, shoulders, and arms, he was an ideal candidate for tearing up the old stonework.
The man was drenched at this point of the day, they had just finished their short lunch break and had begun again on the side roads. Delliks swung a heavy pickaxe to break between the stones and then used a pry-bar to left up the stone, the works were told to try and save as much as they could which made the work even harder.
As he continued the rigorous process, his biceps and triceps bulged out and shone in the sunlight, enhanced by the coat of sweat. He was without his jacket today, not even wearing a shirt, the work got hot and with spring starting to show its face, it increased the men's temperatures so he would need much clothing. His chest dirty, with mostly dirt and the like from lifting up and crushing stone. With another swing of the pickaxe, he stopped for a moment to wipe his brow, it was differently MANual Labour, he smirked a little bit thinking about it to himself, but the pay was good, and it was quite the workout! He couldn't complain.
He loaded up the wheelbarrow with the chunks of stone before moving on to the next section, only hundreds of more roadway to rip up, then he could be carrying loads of stone and fixing elements to the builders.
Aside from the work, the shops were still open and relatively busy, of course due to the detours shoppers would need to make they weren't as busy as normal, and the construction of the roads brought a few spectators, mostly young children, as the city hadn't seen something like this happen in a long while.
