Welcome to Avaleur, a medieval fantasy roleplay site where anything is a possibility. Face bandits, or knights. Work your way up to become part of Avaleur's castle, or try your luck at being a thief. Own a shop, be a guild master, start a family. The possibilities are endless.
Roe stood, his arms crossed, awaiting the arrival of Delliks. He had hired a boy to go find him in Avaleur and bring him back to the gardens of Avaleur, where he would discuss something of great importance with him. He stared blankly at a tree, concentrating on how to phrase the question he would ask the boy. The grandson of a man such as him would be a grand choice for ensuring the future of the Ragnarok and making sure it didn't relocate to its original place of origin. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, knowing he also had to ask the boy another question of equal or even more importance. Time could only tell if Roe's choices would be for the best, but for now Roe believed he was correct in his choices.
Delliks followed the young chap. He wasn't going to follow him, but with his constant prodding and the fact that he needed the money for food for his family later on and he had only gotten half, the other half he would get if he brought him... Well he had to. When he had put it that way.
"Slow down lad." Delliks chuckled as he followed behind him. The kid was eager to get there but Delliks was still going to take his time. "The other man won't go anywhere."
"Oh common sir, please hurry I want to make sure to get you there. It was no simple task tracking you down." "Alright, alright I'll quicken my step a bit for you." Delliks did as he said and the two were are there way faster than before.
The two eventually made it to the garden and the boy led him through and he noticed the face of the man he had seen at the arena. "Ah the Hunter..." He did find it rather ironic that the hunter had sent someone to fetch him. The boy ran up and outstretched his hand for the other half of his payment.
Roe chuckled at the boy's incessant attitude towards money. He reached down and untied his coinpurse, dropping the entire thing in the boy's hand. It was easily three times more that Roe had promised, and the boy's eyes lit up as he turned and sprinted out of the garden holding the purse like it was his soul. "Delliks, how was the arena?" Roe asked in an attempt to crack the ice. He was sure that breaking it would be difficult with what he wanted to ask, but a crack was better than nothing.
Delliks sighed thinking on the arena. He walked up closer and took a seat on the brick quarterwall that was used to form some sort of square flowerbox. "Well you know, fights an all of that. Ended on some sour notes for some, but I would certainly suppose that to be the normal arena lifestyle eh?" He sat and folded his leg up onto his other. Making look more proper.
"But I suppose you didn't pay for me to meet you here for a chitchat about the arena. What can I service you with Sir?"
Roe listened as Delliks joked of the arena and smiled wryly at his question. "I have a few questions for you, Delliks, and depending on the response I may or may not die sometime in the near future if all goes according to plan." Roe explained bluntly. He found his hand slinking up to his shoulder where the the unactivated Ragnarok seal sat, and forced it back into the way he had it before. "Tell me, Delliks, do you know your ancestry? Do you think you're a good man at heart?"
Delliks raised an eyebrow, it wasn't everyday someone put their life in their hands like this man was seemingly doing with him. In all truth he wasn't really sure what he was doing. "A good man at heart? That is certainly a tough one..." he scratched his chin as he thought. Did he really consider most people good, at least good enough? He had always tried to compare himself to the stories of his grandfather, something that he, and no one else it seemed, could add up to.
"I suppose I think that I am, but I do suppose that depends on whom you compare me with eh? I am no saint, and I am not a hero either..."
Roe closed his eyes and thought carefully. He was smart, that was for sure, and if he is who he thought he was then his choice would be justified. "You give thoughtful answers that lead to more questions, like a true riddler would. Do you know of the Twin Seals and what they do?" Roe asked, changing the topic.
Delliks raised an eyebrow, he had no idea, not one at all. "Uh, are those that circus act that has been going around where the two seals juggle swords between the two of them?" he asked, he had seen a poster for the circus up no too long ago and thought maybe they had seals or something.
"Not even close." Roe said seriously. He slowly let his arms down and walked over to the man, then squatted right in front of him. He pulled the shirt he had off and flexed his upper body. The Ragnarok seal on his right and the Sanctuary on his left shoulder. Ragnarok glowed a dark, faint red color while Sanctuary stood out in stark contrast as a pure white. Ragnarok's design kept flowing, always changing and never staying the same just like a chaotic world would always be in motion. Sanctuary stayed still, unmoving, a solid white circle glaring out against Roe's skin. "Ragnarok," he pointed to his right shoulder," and Sanctuary. Both seals of unimaginable power, both with their different abilities and effects. Ragnarok, the destruction seal, capable of giving the user infinite power for a steep price. Sanctuary, the the seal of defense, capable of making the strongest good in a person's heart, their strongest pure desire, into reality at the cost of their life. Both steep prices, both full of potential for the future. It took me twenty thousand years to gain them both, twenty lifetimes by elvish standards and hundreds for humans. I have killed many people to bring order to this world, and have kept Ragnarok out of the hands of those who would use it for evil purposes. Can you guess now why I have asked you here, Delliks?" Roe asked, looking at Delliks with his brow creased in concentration.
Delliks looked upon the seals, and although he couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable woth how close the two men were and him checking out his shoulders, he remained still. The seals did create a powerful contrast on the man. And as he looked he wondered exactly how a man could hold all of that, and have such power contained in such a small amount of area.
Seeing that the conversation had quickly escalated into something very serious, Delliks decided to try and stay serious himself. He looked up into Roe's eyes to not only judge his own seriousness but help him remember to stay serious as well. "I would imagine you are trying to find a safe way to ease yourself of your burden. A way to sort of... Find peace finally eh?"
