"Amazing! Steele that's really quite incredible!" Arkelse almost screamed, he was so happy he almost wanted to hug Steele. "But you're right, let is hurry."
Kavanah was too astonished by Steele's ability. He laughed, "See, I told you he was perfect got the job. Let's go then, don't want to lose the scent or her." he followed Steele as he sniffed and searched the ground.
Steele quickly moved on all fours to track her scent being careful not to accidentally leave Arklese and Kavanah. "Aye she keeps takin' ti thee air, nd' landin. Tis' not a problem, just very annoyin' fir one who can't fly." The trail Steele was following was leading them up to more trails that wrapped around the entire mountain. Some were cut off by boulders and even traps. The wind began to get colder and blow more fierce as the more they headed for the summit. "Hinnies, I suggest if any of ye are afraid of freezin' ti' death ye turn back now." He says as he comes to a fork in the trails leading four different directions.
"Ah'm nothin' like me' fatha', nd' ah'll sure as hell keep it that way."
Arkelse made sure to follow as closely to Steele as possible, he didn't want to lose him. He had his wings wrapped around him to block the wind. "Such terrible weather, it's a wonder she can survive up here!"
"No turning back now, besides I need to go this way anyhow." he said as he kept up with Steele. "I think it will be a lot better once we get in the cave." he assured Arkelse.
"Alreet thin'." Steele says as he continues the to left. The trail begins to steeply lead up the mountain and the wind become ferocious. It was as if there were a blizzard. The sound of the wind made it so Steele had to yell. "Thee lass went tis' way! I'm guessin' she's stayin' somewhere at thee top, else she be freezin' ti' death. Tis only goin' ti get worse thee moor' we go up!" He looks up the mountain. "Still got a ways..." He mutters.
"Ah'm nothin' like me' fatha', nd' ah'll sure as hell keep it that way."
"Aye! Tis' mountain is full of caves thee' ol' armies used ti' ambush otha' troops. Hell, I still use some from time ti' time!" Steele said continuing on all fours up. The scent was becoming harder to follow in the blizzard, but Steele kept onwards. "So why' are ye tryin' ti find' yer sista' anyways!?"
"Ah'm nothin' like me' fatha', nd' ah'll sure as hell keep it that way."
"A curse, placed on me and her when we were just ten! The dictator cast me out and I lost her until now! I studied at a sacred healing temple and learned to cure this curse! I was able to cure myself before the curse took over but I fear she may not be so lucky! But if it is never cured it will consume her and she will become a full blown demon!" Arkelse explained, yelling to be heard over the wind.
Kavanah had followed in the back and stayed fairly quiet. He was rather cold without a shirt. He had his wings wrapped around him for warmth.
He closed his eyes and lifted his head toward the mountain top. His body glowed a purple that was hard tinder in the blizzard. "I can feel an extra person! We aren't too far off now!" he yelled at the two.
Arkelse glanced back at Kavanah and saw the purple light from beneath his wings. He then also looked up and something caught his eye. He strained his eyes to make sure he wasn't seeing things but he was certain now. "Look! I can see a flickering light up not too far! Is must be a fire in a cave!" Arkelse yelled, beginning to run towards the light.
"Well thin' we best hurry thin' before we get swept off tis' mountain by thee blizzard!" Steele said running on all fours on the trail that would lead them to the fire.
"Ah'm nothin' like me' fatha', nd' ah'll sure as hell keep it that way."
Arkelse hurried behind Steele as fast as he could. We was so excited to see his sister, but he was also a little afraid. He was unsure of what has become of his sister.
After what seemed like five minutes of running up. The trail ended. Just above them was the light of the fire in a cave. It would be quite a jump but with two or more people it could be easily cleared. Steele's ears twitched. "Aye someone's in there hollerin' aboot." He says.
"Ah'm nothin' like me' fatha', nd' ah'll sure as hell keep it that way."
Arkelse quickly grabbed Steele and flew up into the front of the cave and then turned to help up Kavanah. Before he could though he was spun around, kicked in the stomach and then thrown to the ground. A glowing dark blade was held to his throat. A creepy voice whisper in his ear, "You've got the next ten seconds to tell me who you are and what you're doing here before I cut your throat."
Arkelse was breathless, he could only mutter, "Luriana, it's me Arkelse. I've come to save your life." With that the blade lowered from his neck and Luriana stood up off of him.
Luriana was now the shocked one. She had never expected to see Arkelse ever again. She offered a hand to help him up but then remembered how she now looked. She covered her face with her hands and folded her wings in screaming, "Go away! I don't need help! So much has changed Arkelse, you don't understand!"
Kavanah used the shadows among him to travel up into the cave. The fire provided an excellent amount, he found it easy to hide.
He nearly revealed himself and cut Luriana apart, but he realized who it was in time. He quietly emerged from the darkness and watched the two siblings talk.
Arkelse got up and put a hand on her shoulder. "Luriana, I know so much has changed, but believe me, that can be deale with later. Right now I need cure you of this curse." he said.
Luriana turned and speed her wings fully to face Arkelse. "You see this? You see what I have become! I don't want a cure, I've killed people..... Lot of people! I don't deserve any cure for this." Luriana said as tears started to roll down her face.
