Yemet frowned, examining both fighters. Then he pointed at Maureth's brother. "He was fighting against one of us in the war. Zaleth, I do believe, while Maureth fought for us. This I know for sure." He said.
Xavier nodded, "Then we should help Maureth," he had studied the other for a while now and saw he blended magical properties into his physical fighting with deadly precision. Even a light blow could render one in serious trouble.
Maureth had been on the defensive most of the battle, managing to deflect or dodge every one of his brother's deadly attacks. It was like he wasn't even trying!!! Maureth dodged a blow aimed at his heart and lept into the air, and was surprised when his counterattack was met with the face of his brother.
"Stop toying with me!" Maureth screamed. His brother spat out a mouthful of blood and looked at his brother. One eye was closed, the one that was open had changed form. It was now just his normal eye, except it had a ring around the middle of the iris, and it was an electric blue color. "The Yensei Eyes..." He gasped.
"Dauphon." His brother said. Maureth clenched his jaw and immediately took evasive action. The four long black poles hit where he had been not a moment before. Maureth looked up and gasped in anger. Coming at him was what seemed like and unending amount of the black poles. Maureth started dodging them, and flinched away when one managed to scratch him. His flesh burned at the point of impact. This wasn't good. Maureth screamed and teleported away from his brother.
The knee to the back of his skull was what shocked him most of all. He went face first into the ground, and before he had even slid a foot his brother was grabbing him by his hair. His brother picked him up and threw him into the air, then laid into him with a series of quick, sharp blows. He finished the combo with a flip kick directly into his right shoulder. (He flipped in midair and did a heeldrop on his shoulder.) Maureth crashed into the ground, leaving a huge crater. His brother landed next to him.
"You won't win. Not with those eyes." He said coldly.
(where have you been at?!) Yemet nodded at Dosise, then saw the immense group of long black poles. Before he could even try and do anything Maureth was lying in a crater, his brother standing above him. Yemet furrowed his brow. "Let's go then." He said to Dosise. Then he activated his three favorite seals and dashed into the battle. He slashed away at the man, drawing his second sword in the process and attacking with that. A few guards had trickled in from the sounds of battle. "I'll hold him off! Heal him if you can!" Yemet screamed. He felt the man hit him multiple times, but his skin prevented any damage that he noticed. His speed and power were increased as well.
"Don't throw your life away." The man said in a monotone. Yemet snarled and attacked even more ferociously than before.
Xavier ran next to Maureth to make sure he was even still alive and to protect him if he did decide to heal. He had an idea what the other man would do next so he prepared himself for it as he waited for Maureth to heal, speak, or foolishly charge back in blindly throwing punches.
Maureth was still conscious by some miracle, and assessed the damage. All of his ribs were broken, as were both of his legs and and arm. His jaw was dislocated and his right collar bone was ground into powder. He knew that he couldn't feel any of this due to shock... But he also knew that he needed to help because Yemet wouldn't last long. Maureth activated his eyes and started healing from the head down. When his jaw was working again, he moved it around.
"Why... Why are you two helping me?" He asked, slightly winded. He felt all his bones snap back into place painlessly and heal along the fractures, until he was okay again. He saw his brother teleport away from Yemet and look at Dosise and Maureth. Then he smiled. His brother took one step forward, and then he was gone in a blur. Maureth felt the stinging blow to the small of his back that sent him hurtling into Yemet and watched as his brother threw a nearly unseeable kick into Dosise's side.
Childs play. The man's did exactly what he thought and Xavier swung his dagger in the way of the kick. It would be a very different feeling when he realized he forcefully just thrusted his shin into a blade instead of his side.
He easily found the better way of fighting this man if it came to it and waited to do anything else, making sure he would not screw up.
Maureth knew something was wrong from the start. His 'brother' took the dagger to the leg, then grabbed the man's arm. After that, and arm reached out from the ground below the man and grabbed his leg. It pulled him into the teleportation portal down to his knees, then Maureth's brother sealed the portal and a clone of himself stood out of the range of Dosise. As long as it was still alive and fighting, the portal would stay closed to any but Maureth's brother. Maureth rolled and kicked the clone that took the dagger in the back of the neck, breaking it. The clone disappeared, and Maureth used his eyes to look around carefully. He spotted his brother where he had teleported away from Yemet, smiling.
"None of you can keep up with my eyes." He said loudly. He pointed to his left eye, which had a design inside the circle that looked like the four points of a compass. "The ultimate optical illusions that can be obtained from our eyes..." He said. Then as if out of nowhere, clones of his brother erupted out of the ground. Ten...twenty...fifty... They just kept coming! They surrounded Maureth's brother, constantly moving. Maureth concentrated hard, using his eyes to their maximum potential. But all they saw was that each clone had the exact same amount of power as his brother did, disguising which one was real. Maureth howled in frustration.
"And now, it is time to die!" They all called out in unison before charging directly at Maureth.
Xavier chuckled at the stupidity in what the man had just done. He rolled his eyes at the comments that he so foolishly rambled on about. Optical illusions were like any tricks really, and with enough practice or seeing them too much made them loss their effect. Xavier watched the real man but remained 'stuck' in the closed portal. His plan did not call for him to leave it as of yet.
Kagero had left after Xavier had told him to and now just watched the show. It was awhile before he decided he had had enough of being stuck so he easily portaled out of it. He brushed himself off and picked up his knife that had been dropped. He reached in his pocket and made sure he had what he needed.
Yemet furrowed his brow in deep concentration. These weren't normal clones made of some type of material... They were flesh and blood, like a real person. It was impossible to tell which was the real one. Yemet slashed and hacked at them until one of them grabbed him by the throat and slammed him into the ground. The impact shocked him into paralysis for a few seconds as he stared into the compass eyes that glared at him.
"I am reality." He said to Yemet. He had no name, no purpose other than to unite. If injuring this man furthered that purpose, then so be it. "See your soul, live in your mind. Let that which makes you fear life itself become your reality. Shatter and reform, Regega." He said. Immediately, his left eye's eyesight got noticeably worse, making the man in front of him a blur at best. He watched as the man went limp from the attack, and fell into a deep slumber none have ever awakened from.
Maureth jumped and killed the two clones near Dosise. "Well, looks like we get to fight together for a bit." He said. He looked over at Yemet, and that's when he saw his brother use Regega, the forbidden Illusion spell. He swore heavily and charged at his brother. As soon as he got there, his brother disappeared. Maureth dropped to his knees and looked at Yemet. His eyes were white as snow, and his breathing was slow and steady, like he was sleeping.
"Fuck me!" He screamed. He turned and started fighting off the waves of clones coming at him. He swore again and again, realizing that his brother was toying with them all. This was, at max, one third of his power.
He teleported out of the way, and reappeared directly in front of Dosise with four clones. Each grabbed a limb and wrenched it out harshly. He grabbed his throat and squeezed until there was no room for air to get into his body. "Are you ready to live your nightmares?" He asked. He couldn't tell if this was a clone or not, but it didn't matter. Every clone, no matter what technique or substance used to make them, have a direct connection with the original. To use this technique on a clone would be to use this technique on the real one, albeit on a weaker scale. "See your soul, live in your mind..." He started, focusing his eyes to see into Dosise's.
Xavier smirked and then spat the shards of glass, sand, and other sharp things (along with a bunch of blood) directly into the mans eyes. Chuckling, "I already live it." his chuckle or speech wasn't exactly easy as his throat was being squeezed but he managed to rasp it out. Xavier's body fazed for a split moment as he tried to portal himself away.
He felt the sharp objects hit his face, but he had managed to see the little movements leading up to the spit. He had managed to protect his precious eyes with a shield, and now this man was attempting to teleport away. He smiled, emitting a powerful wave of energy from his hand over the man's body. Then he increased its power until both of them were vibrating from it. As long as this shield was up, neither one of them could teleport anywhere even if the wanted to. A double edged blade, if there was to be an accurate comparison. "There is always something worse." He said in response.
"Let that which makes you fear life itself become your reality. Shatter and reform, Regega." He finished the spell, and felt the power well up in his eyes.
Maureth turned to witness his brother use the same technique on Dosise. He screamed in rage, and took a step forward. Then he was there, standing withing a swords reach. His brother never broke eye contact, but it seemed this man was much more resilient that Yemet, as he was resisting Maureth's brother. Maureth drove his sword forward, and it was stopped by the vibration. He clenched his teeth and pushed, and smiled when his efforts were met with the satisfying sound of his sword entering flesh and bone. His brother, startled, looked at Maureth as his arm got ran through. He dropped the man on the ground and teleported away as he fled.
"And now... You have my eyes..." He said as he disappeared.
Xavier spit out more blood as he struggled to stand. He had failed to use his new technique... It was hard without his master to teach him. Before his master was able to teach him quickly an skillfully some of the most unknown and unusual techniques every created. He was extremely powerful, but that power and reliance on that power lead to his downfall. The one he had fought reminded him much of Cornelius.
Although he had failed to use the technique, it may have been enough to save him from the Regega. "Why do they always think there is something worse. I am the standard by which bad and worse is set by." he shook his head. Saying that there is always worse was a very optimistic way of looking at it, but then again only a negative perspective would say that it could only get worse from here. He shook of his mind prison of a question and spoke toward Maureth, "How is the other guy?" he asked referring to Yemet.
Yemet was in a black space, with only him visible. He looked around, trying to look for a way out. Was this truly his worst fear? Blackness? He shook his head and found that he couldn't move his feet. He struggled and fought, but to no avail. "Dammit..." He whispered.
"Swearing is not a good thing..." A voice piped up from the blackness. Yemet looked around, alarmed, and saw a man slowly appearing in front of him. Then another, and another! They kept coming until there were at least eighty of them.
"What the..." He started. All of the figures in front of him silenced him.
"You are disappointing us.... You haven't yet made it to one of the four corners.... Find the compass and break it... Discover your roots and fulfill your destiny..." With that ominous messaged, Yemet found himself soaring up higher, at an alarming pace...
Yemet opened his eyes to find Maureth looking at him. His eyes were back to normal, thankfully.
"Well, looks like you two are fighters." He said. Yemet coughed and forced himself to sit up.
His question was now answered by Yemet waking. "So you have his eyes now hmm?" he shook his head, whether he thought that was a good or bad thing he wasn't sure at the moment.
