"I'll miss you more." Phillis whispered back, followed by a very small laugh. He wondered when Enoch would come back. He secretly hoped he never would, but Phillis knew he had to leave. He didn't want to put anyone else in danger, and frankly, he wasn't interested in being king anyways. His loyalty had always remained to Paineston.
Enoch was now in the throne room where he placed the note on the table next to the throne. He noticed he forgot one tiny thing. It woul make sense for Steele's pack to kill Phillis if he already had signed the papers. So he carefully cut off the kings signature at the bottom if the letter. He studied it carefully and did not leave until he was absolutely satisfied that it was perfect and looked as though all he needed to do was sign it. Whoever was in control next would probably read the letter and sign for it anyway, so cutting off the signature changed little but removing evidence.
With one last look in the room he nodded a farewell to the dead man and left back to where Phillis was.
Once again he knocked and entered the room. This time however he would not interrupt. He would let them say their goodbyes of they had not been finished.

Phillis picked up Alice and set her on the bed. "I should leave." Phillis brushed his hand through her hair gently. "You be a good girl, okay?" he smiled a warm smile to make her feel better.
He then turned to the door. "Come in." He quietly said. He could tell Enoch had been there because of the shadows at the bottom of the door.
Enoch walked in through the door and shut it behind him. "Alice, are you ready to help your father?" he asked the girl. After a moment he removed his mask again thinking it may be less freighting.
Alice nodded at the man and then turned to Phillis, ready to give him her final good-bye. But the moment she turned her eyes on him, a terrible sadness hit her like a wave and she jumped off the bed, hugging Phillis as hard as she could.

Phillis was surprised by the sudden hug. He took a step back as he held the girl in his arms. Luckily, he kept his balance. "A-Alice, keep your voice down, honey. Please." He bit his lip. The girl was making it hard to leave. He felt like a jerk for even considering it now. He rocked her a bit, holding her close. "I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry.." he closed his eyes tightly. "Please forgive me. I have to do this."
"I don't want to you go!" she sobbed. "Please, don't leave me here all by myself. You're the only person I trust here. Please! I-I love you, Papa, and I don't want to go away! Please..."

Phillis eyes watered as he held the girl tightly. He buried his head in her shoulder as he held her up, hiding the wetness in his eyes. He was silent for a few minutes only letting out an occasional sob.
"No.." He finally spoke, clearing his voice to hide that he had cried at all. He recovered surprisingly fast. "I'm sorry, baby. I have to leave.. please don't make this hard. "
Alice hiccuped and took a deep, shaky breath. "I'm sorry. I know you have to leave... I'm just gonna miss you.." she said quietly, sad defeat in her voice. She knew Phillis had to leave, and knew he had his reasons, but that didn't make it any less painful. She hugged Phillis as tightly as she could then stepped away, already missing how safe and loved she felt when she was near her Papa.
He had really hoped that he would have missed the goodbyes... They broke his heart.
"What you need to do is quite simple. Tidy the room up so no one can tell we were in here. Then after a half an hour, go back to the throne room and scream real loud. There is a man in there but you need to pretend it is Phillis. Everyone must think it is Phillis, you may even think it is him for a second but don't sorry it isn't." he smiled a sad smile to the girl. So young and she had to deal with this... "And I promise I will help you two see each other as often as you can."

"I never wear hoods." Phillis said, almost as if the suggestion disgusted him. "Ah, I do have something though. It's commoner clothing, but i suppose it will do." he said, pulling out a dark brown robe, that had probably never seen daylight before. He patted it out, resisting the urge to make a face. He put it on quickly.
Enoch was mostly just amazed that Phillis had those clothing, he nodded thinking that that is what he had been saying the whole. The two fled quickly out of the castle.
